That's why right after the first of the year when I heard price is we're going to be going up I picked up a bunch of stuff that had just become available on the shelf for that reason

I found that AA4350 is incredible in the 6.5x47 Lapua with 140g bullets and Rem 7 1/2's, neighbor has also!

I have not seen 4451 around here, I would buy a keg if I saw it!
Just curious but have you tried the IMR 4166 ? Since you brought up 4451. I thought perhaps you have some hands on.

Gotta do what you gotta do if you want to shoot. Not thrilled about the price, but I have powder on the shelf.

I am literally "burning my money".
Yep. Gotta pay to play. Shooting is still cheaper than many other hobbies/sports. I have friends who are into boats, race cars, off roading, motorcycles, planes, motor homes, etc, etc, and what they spend is far more than my shooting.

All this talk is echoing what I have been noticing as well. IMR4350 is $75/lb. at Cabelas and Bass Pro. Prior to that it was $65lb, that inventory ran out, then you couldn't get it. Next time it was available it was $75/lb. It was available in 8lb containers, but not cheaper ($75x8) so there was no incentive to buy the 8lb jug, other than you could get 8lbs of it.

$35-$40 lb powder use to be $26/lb powder.

Have you priced primers? Availability, at any price? I recently had to get some LR primers. I use CCI or Winchester. Can't get them anywhere, in a brick and mortar store. I know a guy that sells at gun shows and he can get them. The last brick I bought (CCI-200) was $140, 6 months later that same brick was $190. I swore I wouldn't pay $140, but did, I drew the line at $190. Small rifle primers are $90, not sure about small and large pistol.

Bean counters run the companies.

Free market enterprise says to charge what the market can stand. So, they can decrease production, charge more, make more profit with less cost of goods sold.

Next, they price themselves out of the market with no demand, lay off workers, sell machinery, and they buildings they sit in.

I'm in PA. And at the LGS yesterday. Finding LRP none. But plenty of SRP. 8 lb jugs non existent in powders you actually want & need. I saw less this time than the last visit over a month ago. I did get a 8 lb of H 380 last visit before yesterday. Not because I like the powder. But it's better than none. And it wasn't priced as high as the Varget ($300.00), I got the trip before. Which is only available now in 1 lb containers. Leverolution was $265.00 for 8 lb. I took the last one they had. Ram Shot Tac was $48.00 a LB. I definitely picked the wrong time to get into reloading. lol

I totally agree that it's crazy expensive but for me the far far biggest cost increase in last yrs has been food. I get the feed bill for three kids and that makes feeding rifles seem like nothing. I think a very large part is just the general inflation.
I feel for anyone having to feed a family these days. I would have to work a second job on a farm to help feed them.

I'm with you brother. I'm witnessing this planned sabatoge on our wonderful country come to fruition. M witnessing this first hand with my son and his family. Amazing how policy changes can cripple an economy in such a short period of time. I'm trusting in my faith in Christ and not being idle. Grateful to be entering into the 4th quarter of my time on this earth! Quality time with my family, some trips to the range, and God willing a few more hunting seasons.

Great very basic powder I have used may entire "Reloading " life . I've got a few cans at $46.00 per pound and $49.00 per pound from last year, and two at $59.00 from this year. At 55 grains in a 270 Win /or 30-06 , I can load about 110 rounds per pound. Thats approx. .53 cents worth of powder. per round. I wish it was back to the old 39.95 per pound, but I don't expect to ever see that again.
Do you spill 950 grains per pound?
