IMR 4350 Why is it so Expensive,?

Do they cost more to make or is it supply and demand?
It's supply and demand. That IMR powder is made by General Dynamics in their Quebec plant.
These prices reflect direct hikes from the manufacturer
"The manufacturer" is General Dynamics, and they don't build powder for the reloader. All of the names that reloaders think they know, are simply surplus blenders and resellers. Hodgdon doesn't "buy" a powder, they buy various lots of parent bulk powder, and blend them to a relative burning rate. The actual powder hiding under any particular branding, most often isn't a single thing from a single run.

If you spend some time at government surplus auctions, you'll quickly realize that Hodgdon really hasn't changed much since inception. The leaky boxcars hidden in a swamp may be all gone, but they still actively buy surplused cardboard drums of various powders.

Great very basic powder I have used may entire "Reloading " life . I've got a few cans at $46.00 per pound and $49.00 per pound from last year, and two at $59.00 from this year. At 55 grains in a 270 Win /or 30-06 , I can load about 110 rounds per pound. Thats approx. .53 cents worth of powder. per round. I wish it was back to the old 39.95 per pound, but I don't expect to ever see that again.
I did some of this math last few days.

Not the #8 Double D's but still a nice pair of Jugs!!

Same thing in great falls🤷🏻‍♂️I looked around the other day.if I was guessing I would say popularity. I'm willing to pay more for it just because it works for so many of cals I use
They have definitely gone up. When I purchased mine a year ago, they were abundant, and people complained about a $38 price tag instead of prepping for it. A friend/LRH member from Hawaii informed me that one-pounder powders, on average, are $90 if you can find them.

The war in urikrane is the reason powder and primers went way up they use tons of them a day there.
I wondered if this was the case. Last 8 pound keg of anything I bought was RL23 well after the start of Covid. Price was $360 delivered, with tax. I thought that was high as heck. Was I ever in for a surprise!
