It's supply and demand. That IMR powder is made by General Dynamics in their Quebec plant.Do they cost more to make or is it supply and demand?
"The manufacturer" is General Dynamics, and they don't build powder for the reloader. All of the names that reloaders think they know, are simply surplus blenders and resellers. Hodgdon doesn't "buy" a powder, they buy various lots of parent bulk powder, and blend them to a relative burning rate. The actual powder hiding under any particular branding, most often isn't a single thing from a single run. These prices reflect direct hikes from the manufacturer
If you spend some time at government surplus auctions, you'll quickly realize that Hodgdon really hasn't changed much since inception. The leaky boxcars hidden in a swamp may be all gone, but they still actively buy surplused cardboard drums of various powders.
