Improving the 308 Win performance

I say this as an unrepentant lover of the 30-06.....

Peace Out Reaction GIF
We're really sticking with "in many cases you can achieve significantly better performance with the right component mix." Are you comparing a hot .308 hand load to a dud factory .30-06 intended for a Garand? Please enlighten me with the MANY magical combos of MV and projectile that a .30-06 cannot replicate, despite having greater case capacity. At the end of the day, there is no replacement for displacement. When you master getting 61 grains of RL26 into a .308, I'll be excited to hear about that.

My original comment was simply a gentle and jovial remark about the .308 lacking case capacity, but some of y'all REALLY took it personally and reinforced my belief that .308 enthusiasts are among the most emotional and arrogant in the cartridge world- couldn't let the Creedmoor guys have that honor?

I'm sure 95% of us on here also have the big belted magnums, not me as I think they suck, I have WSM's, SAUMS, PRC's, 30-06. Point being though this is about improving the 308. You've done nothing but want to argue, poke fun, troll the thread. I see you're also a new member and only have ever posted on this thread. Looks like you joined after this thread was started just to bust em off on folks here. Move on….. or tell us, what's your favorite 308 load?

I've personally found the factory .308 Barnes 168 TTSX to do well on deer out to around 400. When that's insufficient, I just use the full length cartridge instead. I should have suspected that a comment like that would have triggered a lot of people that have an emotional attachment to a brass casing, and I was willing to even move on until retaliatory memes came lobbing in challenging my statement that using the longer cartridge is objectively advantageous.
I can see that slights against the immaculate .308 are not appreciated, so I'm happy to focus my energy, experience and other contributions toward other threads more personally applicable to the chamberings I focus more of my time on, but if folks would like to continue to challenge me on advantages the additional case capacity of the papa cartridge has, it seems fair and appropriate to respond.

The real point of the thread was you promoting your bullets. I will say you low classed yourself, again, with initially pretending not to be associated with Badlands bullets speaking in terms of "they" like a shill account. Your bullets might be great, but with your antics and persona on this forum, I will really need some hard evidence from you that what you're selling is legit.
That's no different than what any other bullet manufacturer or bullet fan does on here.

At this point I'm just going to apologize to y'all. He's probably a transplant from California. And not the good parts of California like the nice ULRA 50 BMG guy, this one probably lived on the Santa Monica pier for a few years and smoke-fried his brain before matriculating to one of our lower-learning schools for the out-of-state incapacitated. If he's native I'll put $10 on he's an Aggie but failed out of the real engineering school and took humanities in Commerce or some other easy way out. We do try our best to take care of the differently-abled, but there's just no helping some people. If he'd pull his head out of his posterior for a few minutes and stop embarrassing the rest of the Texans here with his appalling lack of reading comprehension skills, we'd all very clearly see I said the 300 BLACKOUT can beat the Garand 🤣

Stick to the point of the thread, please.
Back to can I run a BD2 in my AR-10, with load data please.

What hunting 150 gr .308 cal bullet out there has a G1 BC of 0.6? The BD2 175 gr .308 bullet does have a G1 of 0.6 and can be pushed to 2900 fps safely from a 24-26" barrel with Leverevolution.
I was actually backing up what you originally posted about and I misspoke. Thanks for going back in time and calling me out again. This has been addressed already by another and I repented for the error of my ways. Y'all can carry on with the silliness now.😂

Garand is a rifle, not a cartridge. You're introducing a red herring unrelated to the topic (cartridge capability). If 6.5x55 or 7x57 cartridges were perpetually and arbitrarily limited by the pressure restrictions of the original rifles they were chambered for they'd be completely obsolete, but Tikka's still chambering em.

Or perhaps more relevant- if we were going to arbitrarily restrict capability based on the max pressure intended for the first rifles chambered for each cartridge, this entire thread would be a waste of time anyway because we'd be restricted to 60k psi, which clearly no one here seems to respect based on some of the aggressive loads being used.

And I'm always looking for a good load for my BLK, so please let me know what you're cooking up to get a 173gr to 2,450fps (Garand level) from that cartridge. I was looking into 300HAMR, but if you can show me how BLK can get there it would really illustrate that .308 is completely unnecessary as a cartridge altogether.

No worries here. You are really nice to be so humble but as far as I am concerned I hope we can learn from each other . After all, we both love guns in a world that would love nothing more than to take them away. I'm more than willing to support you if you ever need it. Sorry if I offended you in any way myself.
