I'm Done With Remington

I have only had one remington rifle and had nothing but problems with it feeding, ejecting, and extracting. Called them and could tell I would get the run around. I now will only shoot savages. (I know there are other good actions out there, I just like the modular design). A good friend of mine is a rep for them and is always trying to get me to shoot Remington stuff and offering me great deals on their rifles. No Dice!! Boy I hope he does not see this.

You'll get no argument from me. My 7mmRM Syn. Vanguard is amazing! Cloverleaf 5 shot groups at 100yds. SubMOA 4 shot at 200yds.
Right out of the box. No trigger work, no bedding, and no floating.

So the Vanguards are really that good ? What seperates the Vanguards from the Mark V's ? I know the Vanguard is made by Howa. So is the Mark V really that much better ?

I'm really impressed with my 7mmRM. I know others who are equally impressed with other calibers they own. A shooter at my range dumped an Oregon Kimber in .270W so he could replace with it a sub MOA Vanguard of the same. The sub MOA's are even more impressive.
The target that came with mine measured right at 1.5in. 3 shot group @100yds.
I believe the Mark V is made in California. Vanguards are made in Japan.
I don't really know if the Mark V is that much better. I can't imagine how it can be?

what i want to know is why you waited a week before season to be messing with a new gun?you should start the day after this years season on next years toy!

Thats like showin up at the track with out breakin in your motor.Send me your wayward, your lost, your tired, unwanted Remingtons,I have a warm closet where they can visit with many others of their kind.I have owne dam near 100 Rems and the only one that ever had issues was their *** 22lr 510,all of them were shite.

Send us funds to cover our purchase prices and we'll send you our Remington junkers.

If you get a good Remington then agreed there's no reason to whine. Get a junker and you're on your own. Remington's in the business of making money - and they don't have the time for customer service. That was my experience.

Why would I BUY damaged rems when I have a pile of perfectly good ones?i would of course cover shipping to lighten the strain of your seperation...:D

Re: Remington Customer Service

We're talking about defective rems. Or perhaps we could agree on rems damaged by Remington during manufacture. If they really produce less than one defective firearm per 100 (your track record), you'd think they'd be able to at least take care of those few customers that end up with their lemons. After my customer relations experience - it causes me to wonder just what their defect rate of manufacture is. Is it high enough to put them under if they repaired or replaced all of them? I guess only the Remington management and budgeting people, the staff that provide the company-line marching orders to their customer service reps, know the answer to that question.

I can't sell you my lemon Remington 870 for the cost of shipping. I sold it for cold hard cash shortly after my experience with Remington's Customer Service. For all I know it's still being resold on the used firearm market. Just another reason I won't buy a Remington. If Remington won't fix their lemons, it means those lemons are likely being continually re-circulated in the used firearms adds.

I bought a new LVSF 204 that wouldn't group anything under 3". Remmy looked it over and retuned several weeks later with a simple note:"barrel lapped and recrowned." The rifle was still a ***. I managed to work my way to a QC supervisor and asked him if he was proud Remmy was sending out poor shooters and he replied they don't offer an accuracy guarantee and they test fired the rifle and it met their accuracy standards. I asked what the rifle shot and he stated they couldn't release this information. The conversation ended with him telling me I bought a varmint rifle and the accuracy was good enough. I told him he might want to keep his resume updated as other gun manufacturers are taking pride in their products.

Lilja barrel and a visit to Clay Spencers shop turned out a scary accurate shooter.

No more factory stuff for me, ever.

wadevb1... did u have a look on the shoulder of the barrel , I know of one here in oz LVSF 204 that wouldn't shoot , had a recrown job ect But wouldn't shoot for **** , anyway pulled the barrel out of it to make a 6.5x47 , Found the sholder of the barrel wasn't square. Had a step in it , a small ridge , so the barrel wasn't pulling up tight , The last two rems i have brought have had tight head space very tight to chamber factory rounds , But looks like they have tried to fix it buy polishing the chamber !!!!! so now nice big swollen cases, But i still like and buy them. Just have a very good look at them before i take them home , and cross my fingers when i fire my first shot.

Ditto on that one!

I've had my fair-share of Remingtons & the ONLY one I've had ANY issues with was the Model 522 Viper (semi-auto 22 LR). Talk about an in-accurate ***! You couldn't hit the broad side of a barn!

It was the biggest *** Remington EVER produced!!!

I ALSO will accept your wayward, lost, tired, and/or unwanted Remingtons...

I can always buy another gun safe to store them in. LOL

Remington 1: SPS Stainless, .270 win. Wouldn't shoot consistently with the factory stock, at all, bedded it into a laminate and it shot around 1/2" for 3 shots with accubonds and ballistic tips. The inside of the action was galled and the bolt had machining marks on it.

Remington 2, Model 7 CDL .223. Had a stress fracture in the bolt face out of the box, sent the bolt back to get it replaced, they said 4-6 weeks, it's now been nearly 6 months and nothing. I'm also having difficulty getting a refund out of the store that sold me a broken rifle:mad:.

Remington 3, SPS .223. The front action screw intruded into the lug recess and the inside of the barrel has tooling marks you could park a van in, but it shoots very well, 1/2" every time for 3 shots and around .75" for 5 with 55gr Vmax. Not too worried about the rough barrel because it's getting an action overhaul and a 1:8 barrel soon. Have a new stock arriving this week to replace the tupperware one.

My experience is that they shoot well, usually, but they seem to be made by monkeys, quality control apparently doesn't exist.

WOW!!!

I've NEVER had ANY problems with ANY of my remingtons....except that 522 Viper not being accurate!

The last Remington I purchased NEW, was over 7 years ago...and it is a 700 Sendero SF (stainless, fluted w/ Jeweled bolt) in 7mmSTW....and I've had NO problems out of it, what-so-ever!

The only thing I've done to that gun....other than shoot the hell out of it.....was adjust the trigger.

I haven't bought any new Rem's in over 7 years.....all have been trades for used ones, to build off of.

I hope everyone has good luck with theirs!

And if you've had bad luck, I hope it turns around for you!

I guess Remington just needs to start selling actions ONLY!!! Hahahahahaha!!!!!!
