Can you help identify what type of Gun Part and what it goes to?

Looks like a Bolt Carrier for a long range rifle, but what kind?

How about an action, instead of a 'bolt carrier'. Appears to be a rough casting. I see no provisions for attaching a trigger. Maybe a MRC 1999, as they were investment cast.

looks like some sort of action to me, side bolt release. built in recoil lug.

Definitely a receiver. With the odd color it's either in "as cast" form or been through a fire-- its kinda hard to tell.

Odd coloring is possibly the result of post casting heat-treat. Case hardening selected areas might do that.

Yeah, you can see the casting sprues were snagged on the the bottom of the action, un-machined.
What's the back story on this? It's definitely a Mauser pattern and all it's variants.

My mistake. I stand to be corrected.. I see now that it is a bolt carrier group off a M249 SAW. The gas tube still has to be welded on and that rear tang needs to be filed off.
