Ideas on Building a Carry Handle?

I am thinking of building a carry handle to go on my 30in. 1.45 barreled 300 weatherby. I have seen some before that go up and sort of wrap around the scope to protect it. Any idea's? I am thinking about fabricating a plate that goes under the forearm from aluminum then attaching my handle from there some how? Also what do I use to polish the aluminum bedding block after I have it finished up? I know, I know, half the words in this post are are missplelled. Read over it.
