I was up to 2890 with my 26" but groups started to open up.
28" should be good. A 30" should get you 2900+ easily and if you used N570 maybe faster.
I was using retumbo in mine.

The Op said nothing about shooting competitively.
I also compared 300 gr which the 245 gr is more than comparable with and with a longer bbl which he said he's going with he will blow the doors off a 26" bbl 338 lapua.
You do you Magnum !! but I've seen what a 245 can do at a measly 2808 fps and do with great consistency to 2000 yards .
He doesn't need to spend a fortune to go enjoy him self out to 2000 yards so why would he want a large bolt face magnum which brass is expensive and 338 bullets are also very pricey.
Maybe things come easy for you, but they don't for me so he can do the 300 PRC and save some money and have a great time.

Box of ammo for 300 prc runs 60$ here, box of .338lm runs 130$... don't wanna buy a can for .338, previously stated.
Balistics are very close... also the intent of the build was to pass to my daughter who is tiny, and can be capable of atleast 1 mile in her hands.

Screw that !! I've seen what they can do , i'm not saying it's the best thing out there. There's definitely better choices but for a guy on a budget and something that doesn't break the bank to shoot it it's a hell of a time.

Bartlein can make me a .338lm barrel that the reciever will handle. But why kick up the recoil that much if balistics are similar and the intent is mainly paper.

Alright big guy.
Tell me how what's wrong with a 245 elite with an outstanding bc compared to a 250 gr in a 338 cal or a 300 gr Berger in 338 cal specifically 338 Lapua because I'm comparing reasonable speeds not wildcats or improved cartridges can't be a good rig to 2000 yards ? And if you go up to 245 grain hybrid, the BC is even better.
And with a long barrel, he'll have even better velocities so what's wrong with this? You just can't handle people taking the easy button and having some fun with his daughter and not wanting a small fortune into a gun ?
Why wouldn't a guy get head stamped brass that I don't have to fire form or wildcat it doesn't make sense to me What you're thinking.
