DANG! that sucks.Nope. I have seen nothing, and in talking to the local biologist and game warden, no harvests have been made, and also no elk hunter, deer hunter, bear hunter, goat hunter, or hiker they have talked to has even seen one in my hunt area.
Yup. A whole lot of preparation and money spent on equipment and such.....and almost zero chance of success. I figured it would be hard, harvest rate last year was about 30-35% I believe, with an average of 20 days hunted per harvest, but I was hoping for better than 0%.......DANG! that sucks.
Thats right I remember hearing about that fiasco. No, because of the National parks service as well as the Wyoming game and fish trying to eradicate them completely from the Tetons. The National parks service killed like 30 goats in a few hours last you flying around the mountain range, shooting them and leaving them to rot, then Governor Gordon put a stop to it, and because the parks service was gonna do it if the state didn't, he opened up a special draw hunt on the park side of the range, and drawn hunters were allowed to hunt them on the park side and collect meat, however they were not allowed to collect and trophy part of the animals they harvested. Combined, these two events last year took out roughly 70% of the current mountain goat herd in the tetons.
Thankfully it is notDoes this area count as a one and done lifetime tag?
