Do mono bullets have their place? Absolutely they do! In fact my last mule deer was taken with a 270 WSM 110 gr Barnes TSX Tipped bullet. It was the bullet that gave me the best accuracy in that rifle! However -- we just need to make sure shooting mono bullets is a choice and not a mandate! That requires the right people in office -- not the wrong people in office! Other than that -- Happy New Year to you all -- and good shooting and good hunting!

Everyone processes metals differently. A close friend's wife had to undergo chelation therapy for the metals accumulating in her body.
I grew up eating fish from rivers and lakes where we were warned to not eat the fish because of mercury levels. As a kid, i swept the shop floors of an industrial furnace company that used asbestos to insulate. In grade school, we chewed our pencils that were painted yellow with a paint derived from lead tetrachloride. When I was in high school, they discovered that PCB was in our milk
I guess I'm lucky that none of this stuff has killed me yet.

• Shoot monos if you're worried about lead.
• Shoot whatever you want if you're not.
• Don't hunt if you don't want to hurt an animal.

I have zero issue with lead fragments in game, I've consumed many lead shotgun pellets and will continue to use lead/lead alloy in shotshells or cast bullet applications.
But, for high performance rifle applications on big game……monos are pretty difficult to beat! memtb

I hate eating lead! I've done same as you. In fact, I'm pretty sure I have a 8 shot pellet under the skin on my left shin. Dove hunting inflicted about 45 years ago. Still, I do all I can to mitigate my oral lead consumption…

Ah don't get me started man lol. There's a legitimate group of people around me that has been trying to ban the use of lead in the Columbia River for years. It's comical.

That's a fact! I moved to TX in '94. Made chili with beans, and got the stink eye. I finally had to leave in 2022.

Maybe you shoulda just left out the beans—and leave the lead splattered front shoulder meat out of the chili as well.

I see your point in the "off switch". However I would prefer to minimize the meat loss - for example, the scapula has really good meat (to make osso bucco, smoke, etc.), plus the risk of creating a fractured bone mess at the end of the back loin and neck muscles

But everyone shoots 6mm Creedmoor with perfect placement and no bone strike to to causes blood shotting

So many take so much so seriously with so little compromise.

I've shot my share of mono's but they do less damage and result in slower deaths longer blood trails which if your out west might not be a big deal. Down here it might mean your deer runs off your property or in a swamp or pine thicket.
