I am currently using a Leupold M8-2x Extended Eye Relief Pistol Scope (1"), but I'm considering switching to something with a larger objective lens for a wider field of view.

I hunt predators with a handgun, and it can be tricky to get the animal in the scope when they're on the move. I've been thinking about trying a red dot sight for quicker target acquisition, especially for shots within 100 yards. I'd love suggestions on options that could work well for this kind of hunting.

Burris and leupold 2x scopes have 21' wide fov @100. I don't think you will find any other handgun scope to match that, regardless of obj lens size.

For max fov, you might look into a riflescope, if you are using a longer barreled single shot handgun.

So the scope I am using currently hasn't field of view you were saying

Burris has a 3 to 7 variable that could be the best of both worlds. 3 power for quick target acquisition and 7 power for accurate shooting when you have the time. I have an old Nikon 2-8 on my Encore and love it. My all time favorite is a 5X Burris with target turrets that is on an XP 100 in 221 FB that scope has never let me down, tracks perfect, and just plain works.

I've been using Burris 2-7s for more 30 years without complaint. If this were my revolver, I would put a rifle scope on it.. I have switched over my TC encore pistols and will not be going back. Either way, I think the local squirrel population is in trouble.

I'm not sure what you are saying or asking here. Has or hasn't?

The leupold and Burris 2x pistol scopes HAVE 21' fov @100yrds.

Idk how I missed the pic of a revolver when I originally replied. Agree with chris…..NO riflescope on a revolver for me.
A red dot may be a good option for quick shots. I've never used one myself.

A handgun scope takes some getting used to. Practice helps. Running game can be tough with anything.

Sorry that was some bad typing and didn't catch it. I am just clarifing what you said about the leupold scope I am currently using you said the FOV is 21 @100 yards. Or was that 21 at 100 for a different leupold scope?
