How much case length growth measured base to shoulder should one expect with first firing?

They don't size it more. They INCREASE the shoulder bump BACK. I don't know how you could watch that video and think they made the base to shoulder measurement LONGER. Perhaps you can explain how any die can STRETCH a case ?

Perhaps a call to Redding is in order ?

I'd stop being an expert on these shellholders , obviously you do not use them .

REDDING SAYS:
"A good alternative is to use Redding's Competition Shellholder Kit. The kit is composed of five thicker* than normal shellholders which are packaged together in a neat little plastic case. A normal shellholder is .125" thick. The five competition shellholders are thicker* in increments of two thousandths of an inch i.e. +.002", +004", +.006", +.008", and +.010". Each shellholder is stamped with its increase in depth, and they are Black Oxide coated so they can't be confused with a regular .125" shellholder.

Using them is very easy. Start with the +.010" shellholder. Install on the press's ram and raise to the top position. Screw down the sizing die to the point that it's making firm contact with the shellholder. When that happens, the die is now being "squared" or aligned with the shellholder.
Lock the die in place. OK, take a fired, lubed case and run it into the die and then try chambering it into your gun. If it doesn't chamber, go to the +.008" shellholder and repeat the "squaring", resizing, and chambering procedure. Keep repeating until the case chambers easily. Cases sized with that shellholder now have the optimum headspace for the best case alignment."

NOW IF THE CASE WILL NOT CHAMBER WITH THE STANDARD SHELL HOLDER, EXPLAIN HOW IT CAN UNLESS YOU BUMP THE SHOULDER BACK ???

Uh no, they size the case to fit the chamber. If what you say is correct, you can do the same thing with a regular sizing die by backing it out, using trial and error. Unless you have several rifles in the same chambering once set, all set.

Much easier to fireform cases using falso shoulder method and then use a Redding neck bushing die, With reasonable loads, the cases will wear our before chambering is a problem.

I'm moving on.

There is a more uniform shoulder bump when the shell holder contacts the bottom of a fl sizing die, bottle neck cartridge case.
Contact removes slop in the linkage & limits springing of the press.

this is exactly what I've seen too .

when you stop setting up a die with a gap , throw away the die shims , throw away the pma micro die adjuster , and use a set of these you will realize how inconsistent the other ways really are .
