I could use some guidance, there are so many remarks on this subject. My main hunting is done in western NY, COLD! I will be Elk hunting at the end of September in Alberta, and I need boots to handle the hunt. I would like to buy boots that I can use both in Alberta and back in NY during deer season. Question is top boots that are talked about only have 200 to 600 grams of insulation, how would they be in 18 inches of snow and 10 to 20 degress during Nov. NY weather or how will 1000 grams be in Sept. Alberta hunt at 7-8 thousand feet? Thanks everyone who answers.

I wouldn't use the same boot for those two conditions for love or money. Zero insulation for Elk hunting, Sorel for the winter.
