Help Wanted: Scoping my new 280AI

I'm a great believer in high-tech for medical care, but allow me to be simplistic here. I just bought a Kimber SubAlpine in 280AI for a mountain hunt. I want great light-gathering and optical resolution, dependability, in a light weight scope (under 20 oz.?). Something in the 2.5-10x, or 3-12x range will suffice. Range dialing is not my priority. A 'Ballistic-Plex, or MOA reticle will be fine for intended purposes. I have learned SO VERY much from the experience of others on this forum, that I hope someone will relate to my goals here. No 'bells and whistles' needed, weight and optics are paramount, as is quality and dependability in a hunting scope for a very wild place......
Thanks
S&B 3-12x42 with FFP Mildot reticle. No dialling but you have reference points to go to about 800yds. The inner is fine enough for precise shooting, yet the mil dots are bold enough to get the eye quickly centered, great practical hunting reticle.

i have a cooper backcountry in a 280 ai and it has a VX5 HD 3-15x44 on top of it. the scope has performed great and it tracks very good as well. No complaints.

I have the VX5 HD 3-15x44 as well. Mine has the firedot. I am very impressed with the clarity. I am having a .280AI built right now, so I haven't done tracking tests or anything like that. I should know more when I get my rifle back in a few weeks.

Maybe but it seems a lot of others have had the same experience for it to be a fluke..
Mine failed a tall target test miserably, it wasn't even close. It sucked because I really liked it otherwise
I also had a vx6 that had tracking issues as well, it was the first scope where I experienced this.
I about drove myself crazy trying to figure out why my balistics never matched.
The only Leupolds I trust to dial are the Mk5's.
Doing a true tracking test can be eye opening.

...and people wonder why I use the reticle....

Before you do anything...
Vortex is about to release a new Razor LH with exposed turrets and updated reticles.
It'll be a 30mm tube and weigh under 20 oz.
Unlike the Vx5 that I had I'm hoping they track
I like the look of the Vortex. Several reviews I've read reported major changes in eye relief with magnification change. Reticle focusing issues were reported. However, others simply loved the scopes, and they were generally rated as highly as Leupold, by user reports, at least. I'll certainly take a serious look here..

I have 3 scopes that would fit your requirements well.
First is a new in box never mounted 3-12x44 Zeiss v4 with #20 duplex reticle. 30mm tube 18oz.
Next is a lightly used 3-15x42 Vortex Razor HD LH with G4 reticle. 1" tube 16.5 oz
Finally, I have a 2-10x42 Leupold VX-5HD with the Firedot Duplex illuminated reticle. 30mm tube, 17oz. Free CDS dial coupon comes with it.
I have the box and accessories for all 3 and they are all in very good condition. I'd be willing to make you a pretty good deal. PM me if interested.
