Help: every time I go to Kansas I get pulled over

I have been a Police Officer for over 25 years. I have been shot at, hit by a car, assaulted, spit on etc etc. all for what? To get crapped on by people like you? Who died and made you so spectacular? You sir and the person that made the post about forcing a Police officer to shoot them are jackasses.
I have nothing to do with the chip on your shoulder and I'm a victim of your anger. What's up with that.

My dad was a cop and experienced all the same.

You still don't get it.

The only humans in this world who have ever pointed a gun at me were Police Officers.

I have never seen the inside of a police car or police station.

My life time infractions is 10 traffic tickets in 40 years of driving. Where do I deserve the kind of treatment LEO and you are perpetrating on me?

THANK YOU!! And no I read the whole post. You assume he read your entire plate. Just because u can read California at the top means nothing. But whatever. I guess the biggest thing is how these become threads on a forum. Waste of air and typing time. I Wish u the best in your future visits with your mother.

I will tell you this. 10 minutes of talking to an officer, on the way to see your mother, should not be the reason u don't see her. Life is to short. She could be gone soon, and u will be wondering why u didn't just drive to Kansas and see her

None of this is helpful. You are still supporting harassment.

My dad was a cop.

Why do I get crapped on by cops.

Back when the national speed limit was 55mph, I got pulled over for doing 57, yes indeed I was doing 57 and I was the slowest vehicle on the road. What's up with that.

I was looking for suggestions on how to stop this, deal with LEO or contact someone higher up to follow proper channels.

I seem to be a magnet for LEO anger at everyone else. Perhaps it's because they sense that I'm not really dangerous and now it starts happening here with the LE online. How fun.

Perhaps for you entertaining a bored LEO at 10pm while trying to get to moms is an acceptable toll.

It's still harassment.

10 tickets in 40 years of driving and you think you're an upstanding citizen, LOL! Yea, you're a cop magnet alright and it sounds like there's a good reason for it! Anyone that has that kind of a record needs to shut their yapper and learn how to behave with the rest of the citizens that obey the law. Take it somewhere else and cry on someone else's shoulder, as you aren't going to get any sympathy when cops are getting shot routinely for "just minor traffic infractions" and you come on here like the majority of them are bad and just looking to cause you trouble! There are a few rotten apples in every barrel and you may want to look at yourself as one of them in a barrel somewhere if you've had that many tickets and are now bragging how great your record is! I've been driving since 1963 and have been pulled over twice in that long period of time. Both were back in the mid 70s when I was in my 20s and both resulted in speeding tickets. One was going 35 in a 25 and the judge dismissed the fine and costs when I showed him a picture of the sign for the lower speed that was completely covered by a tree branch. The other was paid in full, as I was going 70 in a 55 zone when the limits were lowered nationwide during that time period. I learned my lesson and haven't been pulled over in a traffic stop since then. The cop you mentioned had no idea who you were or that you were an upstanding Church goer on your way to see Mama, so put yourself in their shoes and give them a break because most are just doing a thankless job only to get dumped on by horses butts like you appear to be to have even started this thread!

Your not getting the bigger picture. I would gladly accept a ticket while driving to see my mother. EVERYTIME if i had to just to see her. That's just me, I'm done with this thread. Shouldn't have even posted. Your a smart enough person to truly know the step to take about complaining.

This kind of crap is prevalent now that every cop in America is scared for their life at all times. The Dinkheller shooting gets shown in every precinct and scares the crap out of them. Statistically farming, construction, logging, firefighting, piloting, and many other jobs are more dangerous but cop training nowadays is scaring the bejesus out of guys and they think everyone us out to kill them. I bet there have been more dogs shot by police in the last ten years than in the previous hundred. The war on drugs has become, instead, a war on civil liberty and has created an us vs them mentality.

People used to have a lot more respect for the profession but are getting tired of the "law enforcement officer" mentality vs the "peace officer" mentality. It takes a special person to have the patience and integrity to do the job correctly and frankly with the pay and training deficiencies and a tough job to do it is hard to get the right kind of guy to do it. Too many guys are doing it for the wrong reasons, I look at who I know who went into it and with one guy excepted it is no surprise to me why these stories keep popping up. Frankly, the way kids are raised these days, it is hard to recruit good men for any job much less one with the demands of good police work in a free Constitutional Republic.

The pot calling the kettle black a bit I suppose- you both have your biases ...... I spent years as a weekend night auditor at a hotel (heck, one night I was assaulted there before I even punched in- there was a wedding on they were tanked before 11 pm) so I've worked with police on numerous occasions and most were great to work with. Some were so-so, but that was on busy nights. None I worked with on the night shift were "bad".

It sounds like the OP is being profiled- is there a reason?? The only way to know is to push for answers. I've been profiled by police on a couple of occasions and even had my in-laws consult with their attorney on one occasion to see whether suing was a viable option (it was a DIU checkpoint and the officers even refused to give me their badge numbers). It was a crap shoot with the patriot act in force so I didn't bother as I was rather broke at the time.

Wow, you actually read the thread. Thank you so much for honesty.

I am on a hunting trip that will takes me through Nevada, Utah, Idaho, Wyoming, Nebraska, Missouri, New Mexico, Oklahoma, Arizona and Kansas.

I do this route on a regular basis. Only in Kansas do I get pulled over by LEO fishing for something.

What the Police Officers who responded failed to do in addition to failing to read the thread completely was to realize than when someone has a phobia forcing interaction is a form of torture. I have a phobia of cops at work even though my dad was a cop. That is from having cops place guns at my temple with the safety off and finger inside the trigger guard for NO REASON. It's not that hard to understand.

Yes, I could file a FOIA for the officers dash camera. I could file a complaint except this is Kansas and if I loose the case felony charges will be filed against me. Umm, wow on that.

There is one other possibility, I have an explosives license for work. Perhaps perhaps perhaps. It's still profiling, which is still illegal.

Oh well, been in KS for days and haven't been pulled over.

I have an exsplosives license in 7 states. I doubt that has anything to do with it. Just need to calm down, and if untruly think your being profiled. Then you should have no problem with your lawsuit. Hope everything works out. And I doubt everyone that has replied are LEO's. Law enforcement is a good thing, and they are good people, MOST of them. I wish you the best

Now that you have threatened cops you want to close the thread. I doubt everyone that replied are cops. Wish you the best of luck. I to have an explosives license, in far more states than you most likly. And what u just said, could very well loose that license. You need to just calm down, take a breath and go on living your life.

Where the frick did you come up with the idea that I threatened cops?

I think you are making something up in your mind that non of us a able to read.

Attempts were made when I was young, to recruit me to be a cop or a fire fighter and other kinds of first responders.

I'm an engineer type person so it didn't work out. Well really, my cop friends described forced extraction and that put me off.

I have a great deal of respect of all of them. I have friends who are first responders of many types including police officers. They are not at work when we interact. They are not pulling me over for no reason I can fathom.

My reason for posting was to find out if anyone had any ideas on how to deal with it gently and properly. I intended no cop bashing, that would be a little stupid from a cops son.

I wasnt going to post on this because it just seems weird that it was started on a longrange hunting website AND posted in the deer hunting section. Maybe should be in the general discussion forum? This whole thread is weird to me. Everyone should know how the legal system works. It all comes down to if it is worth it for you to take legal action against the department. If it is, hire a lawyer and do something about it.

I have been in law enforcement for a while. I'm not saying that I believe you and I'm not saying that I don't believe you because it could happen. I don't know you and it is hard to decide on the Internet if someone is telling you the truth or not. Hell, I just told you that I was in law enforcement and I could be working at Taco Bell right now. The truth of the matter is that there are bad people in every job and it's those people that can make the whole company, department or agency look bad because it is a public service job. There are a ton of people that don't belong in law enforcement that doing the job. A lot of it has to do with the "alpha male" syndrome. As in, I am the winner ALWAYS! Now I will be the first to tell you that every officer needs to have that syndrome but i will also tell you that it only needs to be used when necessary. That is the tricky part about it because a lot of times you don't know when you will need it. That knowledge comes with officer experience. A good officer needs to be able to turn it on or off like a light switch. Officers that can't do that, will take too many things personally and retaliate back whether it be a word arguement or worse. If someone is talking trash to me, I let them do it. Their foul words mean nothing to me as long as I can get what I need to do finished. If they are cursing me up and down and they are good to go then it's explain why I stopped them and "have a nice day" from me. Now on the other hand, if I have something on that person and they are being uncooperative then I will do what I need to do to get the job done which means matching the resistance with the right amount of force to take care of the situation.

Officers shouldn't have to deal with people treating them badly but it is a job that is loved mostly when people really need you. That is just something that an officer has to accept and deal with it. If you can't do that and take it personal then you shouldn't be in this type of work. As public servants we took an oath to protect and serve. I didn't take an oath to protect and serve only those who don't belittle me or hate me. We as public servants should be above simple words or unwarranted anger.

If this actually happened to you then take it on legally if it means that much to you. If you get pulled over again (as you say for no reason), get the officers name off of his name plate and ask for his call sign. Call the department and report it.

I removed a lot of your quote to save space and because it was from a "it could be" standpoint.

I don't swear at officers in the line of duty, period or yell or be belligerent. Frustrated sounding yes. I don't swear anymore than I drink. This year 2014, I've had 3 margaritas and 1 beer.

I was looking for alternatives to legal action. Well except for the guy that wrote me a ticket for 36mph in a 25 when I was in a 35mph zone. One of my buddies who is LE was in the passenger seat. He was as dumbfounded as I was but it's too late as I paid that ticket.gun)
