I think something is bound up, I remove and install the firing pin assembly's by hand easily.
Hi Alex,
Is the thread pitch for the firing pin assembly at the rear of a BAT bolt the same as for a 700?

It's a valid thought. I have overscrewed a 700 pin in the past out of curiosity. It's hard to imagine doing it by accident. It's pretty easy to see where it belongs. But I have also noted that some pins can be overturned more than others.
In fact, if I were the OP, I might just take a look at how it works with the pin turned out one full turn.
I don't have the rifle in front of me as I am at work, but what pin are you guys talking about. I'll try anything at this point.
The firing pin assembly. It screws into the back of the bolt. Try backing it out one full turn.
I'm not at all sure that will work as it may result in a pin that won't reach the primer. But it may also reduce the tension on the relaxed pin and may make it easier to cam when the bolt is opened. It's worth a try.
I also suggest that you get a firing pin removal tool to make all this stuff a lot easier to do. (see my note to Wheeler)
I don't believe it does. But again, I'll take some pics when I get home and maybe we can figure this out.I'm assuming your bat action bolt shroud screws in like a rem 700. Maybe I'm wrong.
If it is similar to a 700, Google 'how to remove the firing pin' on YouTube. I did and there are several videos on how to do it without a special tool. It works and I found out after blasting everything with carb cleaner that a dry bolt/firing pin assemble is stiff and I had to go back and lightly lube to lighten the action. Hope this helps.I don't believe it does. But again, I'll take some pics when I get home and maybe we can figure this out.
Yup! My bolt is the bolt at 1:26. It pops out just fine, but getting that thing back is VERY difficult. I have alot of spring pressure!BAT also has a selection of videos on their site pertinent to the subjects of disassembly, trigger position adjustment and reassembly.
Look at the arms of the guy in the video, he's not Schwarzenegger, far from it. Maybe a phone call to BAT will clear things up.
I wonder if I could cut a coil off of that spring??
I know, I know, its a bad idea and would void any warranty/future assistance. I just know it has to be the spring tension...
I agree. He makes it look easy. But I've already SENT it to bat 5 years ago. They said it performed great. I don't even know.Look at the arms of the guy in the video, he's not Schwarzenegger, far from it. Maybe a phone call to BAT will clear things up.
