I would recommend you get to a IHMSA silhouette range and try out some of the shooters guns and see what you like.
I have shot at the Tusco Rifle range in MidVale about 17 miles south of New Philadelphia since 2002 for our International matches and there are a lot of great people from your state that will be more than happy to help you make your decision.
Our big bore targets go from 50, 100, 150 and 200 yds/meters depending on the range most are in meters.
It is GREAT practice for hunting and has helped me with my hunting and got me to hunt with other pistol shooters out west at distances that you don't get to often here in WI. Most shots would be under 100 yds here.
