Hammer Hunter not fur friendly

I made good money back in the 60's and 70's trapping, snaring and shooting !

Now that I've been retired for 18 years it give me a purpose, braking even would be OK now ! If the price of fur would have kept pace with inflation a new truck wouldn't be out of the question !
I do want a coyote fur coat. With the collar being a coyote with head draped around the top. I was told I need about 20 coyotes to make this happen.

You must want a full length coat well below your knees. I had one made in the 80's 3/4 length no hood it took 12 hides there was alot of scrap pieces left over !

That seams like a lot 20 hides ! They could be figuring smaller size ones , up here in Northern Michigan in the UP I get some very large coyotes around 50 pounds every year even one pushing 60 pounds but I would guess theres some wolf blood in the large ones !

Whoever told me probably really didn't know then. Yeah, I want 3/4 length and IL yotes are healthy critters. So once again, I was told only the fur that runs down the backstraps and a few inches to each side are used to sew together to make the coat.

You guys actually get paid for pelts? Last I checked I'd spend more in gas to drive to the nearest fur buyer.
This^ my buddy used to give a rip about saving pelts and now says it's not worth doing, but where I live we have too many dang coyotes and it is fun to hunt them.

He used to use 223 and 204 and stuff like that, now he prefers to use the .257 weatherby because "it's more entertaining to hunt with" 🤣

Yup, blow'em up! Unless you want a coat... 🤣

Might wanna order the Dead Blows or Fur Hammers if you care about the pelt. Special order, cost a bit more (I think) since more time on the CNC. But my experience you hit bone with any projectile over 223cal, 50gr things get nasty quick.
