Hammer Hunter Load Data, (See page 1, Post 8)

My wild guess of reloading powder lingo means too slow
StaBall is in the 4350 burn rate. I've seen higher velocities than I expected. RL16 is great, but Bean & I haven't been able to get the velocity we want/expect out of it.
I use RL16 with the 124 in my 6.5 Creed. Single digit ES, sub 0.5 moa, and 3033 fps.

Plus it's dirty and spikes like an Olympic volleyball player on steroids ,...................... Start's a mean campfire

I've been working on load development for a new 6.5 Sherman Short that I had built by Ryan Pierce (Piercision), who did an awesome job. It's got a 24" Proof research barrel, 1 in 7.5 inch twist, and I'm running it suppressed. Running ADG brass from Sherman. Primers are CCI 200. I don't have a Lee FCD for this round yet, I suspect when it arrives I'll see the groups tighten up a little as I've experienced with other Hammer loads.

Here's what I've got so far:

H4831SC seated at 2.270 cbto

58.0 - 3085
58.5 - 3092
59.0 - 3132
59.5 - 3142
60.0 - 3169
60.5 - 3197
61.0 - 3232
61.5 - failed to record on LabRadar
62.0 - 3273, Pressure (ejector mark)

Also tried RL23 on the advice of Lance Kenyon. These were seated at 2.280 cbto to start.

57.0 - 3137
57.5 - 3129
58.0 - 3144
58.5 - 3205
59.0 - 3228
59.5 -3207 (this one was actually seated a little deeper, 2.275, hence less pressure.
60.0 -3259 No pressure signs, but stopped here.

I was seeing very consistent grouping with the RL23. The rounds with 58.5, 59.0 and 59.5 printed the cloverleaf lower left, this was at 200 yards. The 60 grain charge produced the flier:

Continued load development today. Its a little windy, 18-24 mph today at almost full value so I moved in to 100 yards to minimize the wind effect.

After trying different seating depths and powder charges, (it's evident the barrel is speeding up, at about 70 rounds through it as of today) settled on 58.7 grains of RL23, seated at 2.270 cbto. This produced an average of 3254 FPS with an ES of 31 and SD of 16. group about 1/2 MOA, photo below:

GLTaylor - apologies, forgot to include this is with the 124 hammer hunter.

Today took the 06 to the 200 yard range to see how the 58.5 velocity at the muzzle would be. Raining somewhat. Thr mil adjustments had me confused, my first mil/mil scope. I was adjusting like MOA click at firs

Not too bad, Average of 10 shots is reflected.

Precision is acceptable. Right target.1st shot at 2 by the white, 2nd shot at 12 still above the aiming point. 3rd shot on thr aiming target at 10. 4th shot at 2 on the aiming target, 5th shot on the aiming target at 5. 6th shot center point. Cooled down for 30 minutes, 7th shot at 5 below thr 6th shot

Shot rounds at 100 to get it close.

Note: Disregard the 2950 it is at the avearge of the 3 shots with the 280AI when I changed the 210Ms with BR2s. Target on the L

Last weekend took cold bore and insurance shots at 200 with the 28 inch 30-06. 137 HH, 48.5 N540. CCI 250.

Great info. Been thinking of using this bullet in my AR platform Grendel. Thanks for sharing
This should be some bad hog medicine!!!

This is for the .338 205g SHOCK Hammer. I understand this to essentially be a Hunter with a larger diameter hollow point? Thanks for putting all this data together, extremely valuable.

Yesterday in preparation for the hunt today at a TX Guard base I took out the 06 launching th 137HH for cold bore and 2 more. Did not take any pictures of the shots. Too many interruptions on the range, got sidetracked. I put up 3 ShootNC 1 inch pasters at 200. 1st shot center punched it, clipped the 2nd, and the 3rd.

I drank the BB KoolAid, ran the rounds though Lee FCD 1/4 turn. Why 1/4? No work up done just what I felt like.

LabRadar readings were not bad. Charge were done on FX120i Autotrickler, 58.5 N540, CCI250, 137 at 3.22.

Waiting for the legal hour to harvest a doe, still dark here in CenTex, and wind howling.

OK, quickly, what is the full value correction for this load, 137HH at 300 yards with the wind at 35MPH?
