Hammer HHT vs Absolute

I got lucky on this last dial. Leupold has a 25% of on dials going o. Recently. I gave the the data and serial number of scope. He said that ones free. I said, I could shut up but I've already had the free one and two others made for that scope. He said well if I was you I'd just keep on walking down the road and go with it. I said you're the boss 👍🏻

I'm looking for a new mono to shoot in my 7mm this fall and have narrowed it down to the 132gr HHT and the 140gr Absolute.
From what I can tell, velocity should be similar and BCs pretty much line up as well. How easy are the HHTs to work up a load for compared to the Absolutes? I know the Absolutes are a bit more tricky in regards to powder burn rates which is something else I'm considering as well.
Currently, I'm shooting the 166gr Atip at 3k' but would like to pick up a bit more speed and get the performance of a mono.
Im shooting the 140gn Absolute out of my 280ai at 3200fps. My friend is shooting the 132HHT out of his 7mmRM at 3300fps. Note: Both are using H4350.

Between the two bullet types being close in weight I would pick the HHT ( wasn't available at the time when I chose the Absolute).
IMO the Absolutes are only worth considering if it will be significantly faster than the HH or HHT.

Instead of using expensive custom turrets I wrap white electrical tape around the circumference of the turret with corresponding yardage marks based on the DOPE. Whenever a new or different load is used then I just peel off the tape and start new. I have been using this method for a few years and have had no issues.

Five grand for a custom rifle and another 2 grand for the optics. I just don't have the heart to wrap a piece of painter's tape around the turret. What if someone saw it? Ahahahahahah

He didn't see it. lol.

That's exactly what I did on a couple of my brothers rifles. For the absolutes I just walked a target out and marked the turret. The 116's shoot pretty flat out of the 270wsm so not much change till after 300 with a 200 zero. Will be nice if/when more are in the kestrel library but the turret tape works just fine

Just a thought but:
When my custom turret doesn't exactly match my load anymore (happens all the time LOL)
I use the 400 mark on the turret and sight dead on at 400yds. Shorter distances are always very close. Distances over 500yds will need a little tweaking.
That's why I use MOA reticles in my scopes.

MOA/MIL is always MOA/MIL.

I will agree the 124, 143, 181 and 199 hammer hunters have worked very well for me and my friends and switching will be hard but I am hoping the 203 HHT's will shoot good in my 300 PRC and I will get a chance to draw some blood with them this year. If not, next spring in South Africa they will definitely draw blood on some unsuspecting Wart Hogs and Plains Game.
