Hey, I was hunting in the UP of MI, sitting in one of my cousins blinds. It was made up of fallen logs. He is much taller than I am. A deer was about 40/50 yards away, through the scope of my 300 Wby it was clear. I squeezed the trigger and then there was quite a large explosion of wood particles. I didn't even see what happened with the buck. I could see a large piece of the log in front of me was missing. I sat there for a few minutes thinking about how bad that could have turned out. Then I decided I should at least look for the deer. I got out of the blind and stepped around a couple trees and the buck was stone dead right were he was standing. At the time I was shooting a 180 gr Nosler partition.
