Fixed power scopes

I have a 1995 Swarovski 6 x 42 HABICHT with standard DUPLEX reticle and a 26mm tube on my 1987 30-06 Mauser K98 a/n.
No need to have a scope with turrets etc etc.- I set it 2.5 inches high at 100mtrs and it is good to go up to 250mtrs, which is my maximum shooting distance. I hunt a lot here in S Africa and Namibia every year; eg 2024 season now closed and hunted 1 kudu bull, 1 x black wildebeest, 3 Fallow, 2 gemsbok and 14 springbok...(Hunt for friends, and for people who do not hunt...)
Look up MPBR and you will see that with 165gr in 30-06 it is good to go up to 270yards, so I just aim without worrying about Mill Dots, hold overs, turrets, adjusting, etc, and only allow for wind drift.
A lot of unnecessary hype - as is with newer golf clubs. Just practice at different ranges and always with one bullet make and weight - for paper and hunting, and that keeps costs down - I use the Hornady 165gr Interlock which I self-load.

I've always loved low-fixed-powered scopes; I wish there were more of them available these days. I've always been a big believer in clarity over power, and fixed scopes like the Leupold M8 X6 42mm seem to meet that requirement for me, in fact, I still have two of the older {mint} Leupold M8 X6 42mm on a couple of rifles today, on my Ruger 77/44 & 77/357... in the old days I ran them on my varmint and hunting rifles. I sure do miss the scopes like the Lyman Alaskan, Bausch & Lomb with a crazy good mount and ring setup, Weaver B6, Redfield Traditional 6x, Weatherby 2 3/4 you get my point, pretty much anything from 1X to 6X, and perhaps an 8X worked great back then, which was awhile back. 🤯 Just my 0.2 Cheers

VintageGunScopes.Com has a scope that might interest you. There are plenty to choose from, but I linked a Marlin branded 3X scope. There is a NOS Leupold M8 3X on ebay still in the plastic, you might take a look there as well. However, you can find a decent LPVO for less.

I have a couple SWFAs in 20x fixed that I use from 25 to 1000 yards. Good glass & decent price.
