First Deer

Bit late posting this one and I don't figure it quite counts as long range, but my boy got his first deer on his 6th birthday this year. The boy's pretty tough with his cut down howa in 223 and I let his papaw talk me into letting him have a go at it. 5x8 tower stand was barely big enough for him to shoot from his bog death grip with my dad on the binos and myself on the back up gun. No follow up necessary because he drilled him at 140 yds. Pretty sure we got a lot more excited than he did! Nov 26th was a good day fellows.
Awesome like to hear that memories of a life time

Lot's of 22lr's have gone down range in the past year and a half. He really took off when I shortened the stock on the howa one rainy day. I have a few 4" chicken dingers between 100 and 200 yards and he rarely misses anymore.

I'd suspect that in 20 years that deer would have been a 14 pointer shot at 1400M away. kinda like the fishing stories around here. My FIL tells a story about a sturgeon that filled the back of his truck. However when you hear the story from his brother it was a 22" fella. A great story regardless.

Congratulations I have more fun hunting with my kids and next year my granddaughter nothing better

I have none of my own so I do all I can to spoil Mario's and give them some of the same Joy Homer Johnson instilled in me many years ago.

I was blessed, dad had a wealth of friends that were "real men" who did it all and I learned all I could from them. My turn to pass on what I have learned to another generation or two before I'm goine.
