Federal does it again 😅

Time will tell but I know it will get built and tested by many here. Looking forward to it. Playing with federal website, it's showing 195 at about 2850 out of a 20". I could see this chambering doing very well for me with 180s at 3000fps in a 20"...I could be talked into supressor use for something like that!!!

This is exciting to me! Keep pushing the envelope of what can be done, at least this is actually new territory (I know the .277 fury exists, haven't seen it around at all) - not just modifying a long extant brass case's shoulder angle and feeding it unicorn powder, but actually increasing chamber pressure with a different approach altogether.

Just got done scrolling through the launch page, reloading question was basically "well tell you more later". So not the most reassuring, but if they do hit 7 prc ammo prices that could help.

The greatest part of the whole deal was the gif.... of the trajectory hitting the elk in the butt and the prc in the leg.

It was either an Easter egg of a humorous employee or a massive oversight, at any rate it's the best part of the whole thing. Going to meme it to death....

"DANG IT BOB!!!!!"

"What? What'd I do wrong now?"

"You shot that elk RIGHT IN THE BACKCOUNTRY Bob!!!!!!!!!!"

I am a doubter on this rounds success, but it will be interesting.

What they need now is some type of advancement in barrels to get more life out of some of these boomers. The high pressure rounds are cool, but not at 500-750 round barrel life. That is $1 per shot or more in just barrel wear, not counting ammo cost.

Strong doubts about reloadability, barrel life, and factory ammo consistency aside, the idea of a standard bolt head, standard mag length with long bullets 7mm specifically designed to handle pressure safely, minimize bolt thrust, and outrun absolutely anything with heavies in a short barrel is an intriguing option. Whether they achieved that goal in the real world remains to be seen.

I don't doubt the performance. I don't doubt the ability to still using standard bolts with the 80k psi they are running. I don't doubt the barrel life being a non issue. Recoil is supposed to be lower than that of similar cartridges. What I doubt is how well it catches on and whether or not it becomes as obscure as a 338 Federal. Except with this one, you won't be able to create the case from something else, like you can for the 338F. Time will tell.

Alltera, seekins, Gunwerks, proof research, weatherby, Gissele, pure precision, Christensen arms, savage, horizon....

I think so far it's been accepted well....highly doubt with the support of all these manufacturers it's not destined for some sort of success...like many have said, maybe not all markets but deff some.

Speed freak that I am….

This is exciting and all, but if we can use an 80kpsi rated case and rifle to turn a standard sized cartridge out of a shorter barrel into the ballistic equivalent of a magnum with a long barrel….

When can we see what an 80kpsi rated RUM sized case out of a 28-30 inch pipe does? 😁😁😁😁
Luckily my FIL is an ophthalmic surgeon so he can re do my retinas after every range trip
