Federal does it again 😅

So it appears to be a 300 PRC necked down to 7mm. Been there, done that 4 years ago in what I believe they should have come out with as the 7 PRC - not the greatest pics but here it is with a 175 eldx and a 180 berger

Meh. I mean don't get me wrong I like big bullets going fast for the cool factor alone. But honestly I just don't get it on this one. Maybe that steel case is reloadable maybe it's not. Either way burning more powder and trying to find more magnum primers isn't exactly what I had in mind these days. Also I'm not super big on getting the snot kicked out me these days. I shot 15 rounds of .300 win mag the other day and realized I enjoy shooting my 6 ARC wayyyy more.

I hear you - and would add that while I enjoy shooting my 6CM a lot, especially if I am going to shoot a lot and get some practice in - I would not take it on an elk hunt, ever. So like you, I wanna huck giant copper rockets as fast I can at critters and love how my 7-300 PRC performs

The big guns definitely have their place. I like big guns for things like elk.

If it is anything like the Nas3 stuff thar Shellshock sells, only about 1 in 4 will resize correctly

The thing I find interesting is Federal is going to use a steel case. I guess they could never figure out how to make brass cases that lasts, this is their solution.

The 7 STW, 28 Nosler and 7 Rum are all faster than this thing, and at 65,000 psi, not 100,000. A plain 7 Rem mag is VERY close. There is no chance I would ever be buying this. It will be obsolete and impossible to get ammo or cases for within a couple of years.

I haven't done much about really looking at the PRC cartridges. Don't even have anything to compare the 2 cases. I do known that the 7mm PRC bullet have about the best B.C. out there. My brother is a fan of 7mm mag cases. He has a 7mm PRC now. He hasn't shot it yet.

One though is that based on velocity, the pressure must not be that high. Maybe 75K not 100K. The recent video on shooting the 308 up to 100K pressure showed something like 300 fps increase 100K over 65K. At 100K I'd expect 400+ fps over 7PRC same barrel length.

No one will buy this thing. I can't see any use for it. For a short barrel/suppressor, I'd want 7PRC or 7 SAUM. Seems to me it would be better suited to a long barrel with a brake. Get the 195 Berger to 33-3400 fps and maybe it has a chance.
