Favorite do-all rifle

Unfortunately I don't actually have a do-all rifle right now and is the plan for the next build actually that I hope to complete for 2025.

So my options now would be something too big for the smaller critters, or too small for the bigger critters or heavy hell to drag around lol.

Because I hunt moose almost every year I would have to probably do the right thing and pick either my smokeless or 300 Norma. If not I'd go for the 25x47 Lapua and just suffer the weight. I would feel right using a 22bra lol

I have a semi custom 280 AI I put together a few years ago and it seems to always be the gun I pull out of the safe.I have full customs that are nicer but I seem to always grab the 280 AI out of the safe.

now that's a great all arounder!

Ten years ago it would have been the Ruger in 7mag, 8-9 years ago it would have been the Tikka 30-06, 6-7 years ago it would have been the Tikka in 6.5x55. The last five years the Anderson/ BCA 6.5Grendel has been my goto.
Times change, I dont trade a good unit and sometimes they get pulled out of retirement so I dont have the ONE

My old reliable .22 rifle.
Why?
If I only get 1 rifle for the rest of my life -
I already got 4,000 rounds
I can kill a deer. (Close range of course)
I can kill a bird or squirrel and have something left to eat.
I can put 100 rounds in my pocket.
I can shoot it for hundreds and hundreds of rounds without cleaning.
I can teach my grandkids to shoot it.

Basic 270 Winchester in SS tikka. It's worn 5-6 different stock from McMillan, B&C, stockys, etc…and I've finally come back to the factory T3x stock.

Spittin' 150 Nosler partitions at 3000fps or 140 gr Sierra tipped game kings at 2950. I've had a couple dozen new rifles since I bought it for $300 new in 2009, but it's still my go to rifle. By far the rifle I've killed the most **** with over the last decade. Coyotes to elk, it's done just fine from 14 yards out past 500 yards.

For the majority of my hunting, I could get by a long time with just that one rifle….but good thing life isn't that boring!
