Favorite 6.5 Cartridge

My dad has a 300WBY that has the same issue and I want to turn it into a 30/375SI so I'm putting a brake on is so he'll wear it out faster Some times a sons gotta do what he's gotta do gun)

Thats what i want to do! but he is already kinda surprised/mad at the cost of buying the dies, bullet, and cost of gunsmithing for my 284 win so i dont think he would be to happy about paying the $95 fee of installing a brake and the $85 for the brake itself. i dont think he realizes that this will be a regular thing either . The gun shoots horrible so he might sell it. Would a rem 700 25-06 work for a rebarrel to a 30/375 S.I?

Got to go with the 260 Rem

Very mild recoil without a brake and only gives up a couple hundred fps to the 6.5-284 with double the barrel life!

This could be the solution to my Blaser R93 Conundrum:
i.e. caliber and twist rates for LRH no longer supported by factory 6.5x284 barrels & NO after market custom barrels currently. The straight pull action is very slick and easy to stay in vs normal bolt manipulation. I was able to double tap an elephant with two quartering rear brain shots at 53 paces so fast the second round hit him just before he hit his knees. At my skill level, bolt manipulation is much easier in prone [LRH] than Mauser type action manipulation, without disturbing my cheek weld/sight picture...
BUTT Blaser quit making 6.5x284 barrels and this one is NOT going to last forever with all the practice required to keep your LRH proficiency.
If I could load the readily available 6.5x55 Blaser R93 barrels to 6.5x284 performance...there are gunsmiths that can AI the factory chambers and the European fast twist rates is already good for 140 VLDs.

NO...they made a 6.5x284 production run a few years back but have no present plans to pull the tooling out for another run. I think this is a management decision to push us Blaser users towards purchase of the new heavier R8 model rifle with detachable magazine/trigger group and illuminated reticle activated by the rifle's safety. I like the lighter and very accurate R93 for hunting. Germans are very stubborn and very susceptible to the notion that if an idea "wasn't invented here" they are being told what to do. Pain in the *** but their technology speaks for itself. Just glad they weren't the size of Texas 80 years ago...OR am I ?
