Ever Misplace A Rifle in your Home

One that ticks me off is the mystery of why every other time I do a wash/dry of clothes a sock disappears ? No where to be found. I check inside shirts, etc., gone to the sock hiding place somewhere. I never find them inside anything, behind, side of washer and dryer. No where ! Reminds me of the guy on TV commercial telling his wife the pain is gone. No you don't understand . Gone ! 😁
I figured out the missing sock mystery...it is related to the proliferation of those cheap coat hangers with paper tubes in the middle, you know the ones that are useless and seem to multiply by the dozen in your closet (at least for us suit dress shirt guys). You see the washer and dryer eat the socks and expel the particulate matter into the cosmos and the cosmos alters it deposits the matter into your closet in the form of extra useless coat hangers.

While I like my modern electronics, I still use and carry maps as backups or just because I am so familiar with them after so many years in the military. Often, I am amazed how many people can't read a map.

Oh, and maps never have their batteries die.
The only down side to the carry map is when your wife grabs the map says I found a better route, take a right at the second red road after the blue road.

This.

Yea, that may not work with scores or hundreds of firearms and all the other shooting equipment and supplies some of us have around. For a few basics, sure, but I am not buying hundreds of Air Tags. :)

About 10 years ago i was deer deer hunting in mountains with a buddy. We were camped out for 4 days. I had my Chesapeake with me. Buddy and I split up. He was older. I went up the mountain with dog. I wear hearing aides. My dog is my hearing. I key off him. When he stops and look I look where he's looking. It got warm that day. Before I hiked back down to the truck I took off my long underwear shirt. I hiked down to truck. Saw a dark object by truck. Was my radio and ran over. Great. Started unloading pack and gear into truck. Where's my right side hearing aid dammit. Back up mtn.. Looked all over. Nada. Great. Went up following weekend. Looked around. Nothing . Had buddy's metal detector. Nothing. Following week same place. Looked around where I thought I took off long underwear shirt. Nothing. Started to walk away and saw something shiney red down inside a bush. I don't know why but first thing I thought was what is a fishing lure doing up here ? I reached in and got it. It was my hearing aide ! The right side had a small red spot on it and left a blue spot. Ya I know....😉 It had rained a couple times. I recharged it. Was fine. Ta da ! Done with lame story 🙄

I was out archery elk hunting.I was moving toward dark timber and saw a bull go up ridge in front of me.As I got up higher there was fresh snow.So I tracked bull back two more ridges.Saw it bedded on a slope with bit of sun, snuck in and shot it in its bed, nice 6x6.Hiking out I came across 2-6x6 sparing about 25 yards I made it to_One had big ball of barb wire in its horn, both 300 type. Then further down run into herd bull w/cows.Didnt see him, but they moved off. Then down at creek bottom Im hungry, I hung my bow on branch and ate lunch, suns out great day.I finally hit first fence thats mile from camp and im like traveling lite.No bow,I think back to my nice lunch and realize my bows away back at creek crossing.I go back and retrieve, and decide to cut thru this saddle, step but shorter. As I go up I end up seeing a 350 bull bedded right near saddle under tree.Just another one of those awesome elk days I had back when.Spring I went up and spent 3 days looking for the barb wire bulls horns, didnt find them.

I am shocked you found your hearing aid.

I've done that a few times with my hearing aids. To make it even more challenging I also wear glasses. One more thing to pluck my hearing aids off!

I have one set of eyeglasses in the river I live on. They got knocked off when I got hit by another boat that somehow did not see me.
I have a second set somewhere in the swamp where I always hog hunted. I stopped to remove a layer of clothes and took them off. Forgot to put them back on. Never found them.

Lake Michigan doesn't need sunglasses since I provide a couple every year. Seems netting salmon is easy button to initiate the donation. Even with lanyards, they seem to just do a double pike into water. 🤷🏻‍♂️

OK, back to OP, I was shooting ground squirrels with air rifle last year, went to shoot a couple and no air rifle. Not in safe, not in basement, no where in house? Then it was retrace steps, still nada? I was in pole barn and as I was leaving barn and locking side door it hit me! Looked behind door there was proudly standing then full of dust especially scope objective. So warm water wash and careful cleaning back in business. I remembered putting it there to get a ladder out to take down bee nest while at barn. The rest is history!🤷🏻‍♂️😂

Another bow hunt in rugged mountains near home base.I was back in with my son and we had a pretty wide creek to cross , but not that deep.IT was type you try to skip across.Well I threw my pack across like a discus ,it hit bank, then slowly rolled in creek and starts floating down.So I have jump in and retrieve.I get out and discover I don't have my Carter, thumb release. There $200+,and I think it fell out of my pouch in first brushy spot I jumped in creeks I go back there wadding around and feeling with arms down to armpits,I FIND IT.

Haven't lost a firearm (yet) but did find 2 optics and a barrel I forgot about earlier this year when I attempted to unclutter the big safe. Currently I can't locate a 22 pistol in my shop but since I know it's in the building somewhere it isn't officially "lost" right?
As for bone-headed things I've done recently the other day I caught myself using my cell phone's flashlight to look between the mattress and headboard... for my cell phone. *face palm*
