I hunted all around there on Stoltze land and Forest Circus. Behind the aluminum plant on TeaKettle too. Good berry picking and Shaggy Maine's as well. Used to saw logs for a Stoltze logger. Just to the very north of Big Mt. used to be good hunting too. Lots of bears, all the time. Liked bow hunting it better. No dinner bellsNumber of years back at Meadow Lake on opener some locals dropped some elk right on golf course Before we where Discovered around here
Oh yea. Now I know what you are talking about. I thought you were talking about griz and elk on the coarse.Number of years back at Meadow Lake on opener some locals dropped some elk right on golf course Before we where Discovered around here
That's funny!.......Did they warn the golfers that the bear was coming? I bet they knew for days that that bear was in the river bottom and didn't even care to give warning......
Not getting at anything other than trying to understand your thinking that the government should be warning about where predators are. My feeling was confirmed by you. It is a way of thinking that comes from people that are from big cities. The kind of thinking that someone should be responsible for their safety.
I agree. I can't prove it but it is feeling like game numbers here are getting better. Was a tough season this year with the lack of snow. I put a lot of days in the mission wilderness hunting or special muley tags with very poor results. I am chalking that up to the last two winters being very tough and long.
So I am hoping that I am correct that we are seeing a bounce back in the game numbers that were taken down by the wolves. I'm not seeing as much would sign as we used to. Fingers crossed!
Yes Steve I was at a function where Dianne Boyd spoke and she said the wolf numbers where down slightly, which as you know mirrors game counts in many predator /prey relationships. They have GPS and all kinds of ways for tracking these days.I also would say I saw less wolf sign, and raised them less bugling. Its just the damage has been done.Plus you know where I hunt lots grizz,Ive seen13 in one day in my youth, and cats that basically dont get hunted do to terrain.
I kind of take the opposite view, as the consequence is usually the powers to be shut everything down so nobody gets hurt.
Side note I recently saw a picture of a big tranquilized boar claiming it was the first grizzly west of the Pend O'Reille River.....Only about 30 years late that I know of. We've even had a video of one cavorting with the swing sets in a back yard years back that made the local news.
Now I have to decide if our F&G is lying, incompetent, or really that stupid, with enough evidence to support either view.
.....I would tend to lean toward Lying. They have pulled that same stunt many of times........
I see what you did there. HahaButchering an elk one time. Found a 30 Cal. Corelock in a ham. Butchering another found a **** broadhead buried in a backstrap. Almost cut myself on it. Both had been in them a year or more. Just a couple that got away from some experienced hunters, I guess.
A lot of my elk hunting can get kinda close and personal. Not the place for a Creedmoor. Sure if it's standing in a hay field, broadside, that's a different story.
Thanks.I see what you did there. Haha
