Elk call

I usually draw a cow tag for Second Rifle in Colorado and add an OTC bull tag. I am therefore hunting after the rut. I carry an Original Cow Talk call. I use it sparingly when I'm making noise moving through black timber and have used it to stop moving elk.

So do they make a distressed calf call? I would think a distressed calf call would probably work. It seems to work on deer both WT and mullys. Not sure if they are legal though. I've seen some you tube video's with amazing results. But if they did and they are legal then I would think this would be the ticket.

Not really effective for cows, but I really like Primos elk calls.

Regardless of what call you end up with, just make sure if you hear a response, its from a herd and not from another caller.

I have the Hoochie Mama as well. I never used it for calling elk in but use it to stop bulls if needed to do so. Which it does.

The best elk call I have seen is a hundred acres of alfafa!

It calls a hundred to hundred fifty head of elk every evening!

Trouble is ......... it's on a Reservation. Some tribal members get some good out of it though but I am not a member of anything!
