I agree. With all things it is good to have some dreams but we need to have things that can be attainable

I can't decide between Goat and Dall sheep.
Both of which are dream hunts because I can't seem to get drawn for goat in my home state (despite my yearly efforts) and sheep because of the cost/clock battle. Seems like there's an inverse relationship between when the point in our lives where we have the time, the money and the physical ability to chase these sorts of critters.
A couple hunts that are really high on my list that are a CERTAINTY are Moose and Caribou. Both DIY, so I shouldn't list them as dream hunts. The problem is that both will require some funds that will get in the way of my true dream hunts, but are much more realistic given the time/funds/ability aspects.

I have always wanted to go on a mountain lion hunt but I will one of these days. Probably the one I would most want to is either stone sheep or bighorn. I do have a free range Aoudad hunt booked for February so that will do for now.
My wife's grandfather went on a horseback hunt to BC years ago. Not sure of the year but he killed a stone sheep, mountain goat, elk, black bear, wolf, and wolverine all for $25k. I believe it was a 30 day trip. The good old days.

My black bear came from an apple orchard! Excellent meat! It is necessary to cook it past medium rare to avoid trichinosis.

Did my dream hunt about 30 years ago. Read "Maneaters of Tsavo" by Patterson when a teenager and became obsessed with the idea of hunting the African Lion. Fulfilled that dream in spades with the perfect hunt in my 40's. Shot this cattle killer after two days of tracking in the Chobe, Botswana. Still remember that hunt as if it was yesterday!

Congrats on making your dream hunt come true. That is a beautiful double rifle.
This was number one with my son. Was scheduled for Yukon Moose, but Covid destroyed that. Now way passed prime. Trying to sneak in more "mature" hunts if can find them.

Thanks. The rifle is an all original H&H Dominion, 450 Nitro Express made in 1904. As the ammo was no longer available, I had a custom dye made and necked down .470 cases. Matched/regulated loads using IMR3031 powder and a Woodiegh 480gr SP. it did the job at 21 paces! This an an old. photo of the original owner William Buckley with the same rifle and a Lion he shot in 1904…90 years previous to mine!
