Get you a .243, great little cartridge
That's a good start, but I think your collection NEEDS a small rifle.Yeah I have been mulling that one over. My cousin has a 243. I may reload them for his rifle. I am also looking at a 7mm-08 to add to my collection of 300WM, 30-06, 270, 308, 35 Remington, muzzleloader and 5 shotguns.
Thanks. I have about 350-400 Sierra bullets. 100 of them are 100gr and the rest are 85. When I start rolling them for my cousins 243 I will look into the IMR4064 as it's deadly in my 30-06 w/ Interlock 165's. I have IMR 4064, H1000, H4350, IMR4350, Varget, H4831 & SC, H4895 and H4198. So I have a lot to tinker with over the winter.IMR 4064 and Sierra 85 grain hpbt bullets is what my left-hand Rem 700 loves, it's taken whitetail, coyotes, bobcats, and racoons by the many.
Because I really want a 7MM-08.Why would anyone not consider having a good excuse for buying another rifle?
The 243 is a awesome round and is a great choice to have around
Get one of those toBecause I really want a 7MM-08.

Well……you sort of ****ed on his parade!!! He had it all lined up about rationalizing the purchase of a new gun and then, you wrote the truth about what happens after one gets a new rifle/cartridge to play with. When I read this thread it made me think about the ten, old, red and white boxes of the Hornady 139gr 7mm bullets that have been on my bullet storage shelve for the past 10+ years. It made me think, "hmmmmmm….maybe I ought to think about a 7mm something?", then you post brought me back to reality!! Thanks for your thoughtsRather than think about acquiring a .243, ask yourself what you would do with it? If you don't really have a use for it, rather a lot of use for it, you have far more bullets and brass than you'll use in a lifetime. And after loading a few boxes of ammo, you'll wonder if your rifle would shoot better with a more modern bullet. Then where are you? Left with a bunch of old bullets and buying new bullets to reload. Been there, done that.
I am going to reload it for my cousin who has a .243 rifle. I do have some modern bullets as well. He is excited about shooting the stuff I have. I not buying a .243 when I can use his whenever I want.Rather than think about acquiring a .243, ask yourself what you would do with it? I am going to use my cousin's 243. Those old 7mm bullets would be great for the 7MM-08 I am looking into right now. I might be able to save you the trouble of getting new gun and getting the 139's our of storage and down range.Well……you sort of ****ed on his parade!!!
