Cheep hunting rifle; Savage vs Mossberg

So, is there any mechanical difference between the 110 and 111(trigger, action the way it's made etc)?
No differences at all in the action, same action screw spacing and bolts are the same. There can be some variations between blind mag, floorplate, or DBM. Then you can have pre‐accutrigger, stagger or center feed magazines, and regular recoil lug or accustock recoil lug models. There is also either a top bolt release lever or bottom bolt release button in the trigger guard.

Center feed is easy to tell as the magazine stays in the stock on the blind mag rifles, and the magazine stays with the action on staggerfeed rifles. It's also simple to tell just by looking at the feed lips omnthe magazine and where the round is positioned in the mag. Pre-centerfeed models of DBM rifles had a side button release in the stock. Centerfeed DBM rifles have the mag release on the magazine for injection molded stocks, and the release is in the alloy bottom metal of the Accustock and Wood stocked rifles. I'm pretty sure the hinged floor plate was only on staggerfeed rifles.

Does anyone have ideas of which might offer better fit/finish and best barrel life?
Barrel life? I don't have a clue as to which will last longer Savage or Mossberg.

Fit and finish? Model 110 or 111 weren't great, but they usually shoot well enough to overlook the lack of being pretty. The 110 and 111 are very utilitarian models, the 114 were the pretty rifles.

I've never owned a Mossberg rifle, but do remember their old synthetic 4X4 models being very utilitarian as well. Here is a link to a thread I found discussing issues with Mossberg Rifles.
