Agreed that the bottom .091" would not be resized. Would that be an issue? Neck sizing only crowd does this all the time, correct? You wouldn't be able to size the case completely.

Shoulder diameter of a 300 RUM is .525. The 338 RUM is .526.I must be missing something. Explain that differently please. By my math, the base to shoulder is .091" longer.
That was my original edge sizing setup. 375 fl and 338 neckI've never done this with a 338 RUM specifically, but I've run quite a few reamers deep to stretch a chamber for a wildcat idea. You'll usually end up with a slightly over sized chamber at the case web, but it's nothing I've ever worried about. I've created a similar situation by using 404 Jeffery brass for RUM based cartridges. The 404 case is slightly smaller at the web than a standard RUM case so you end up with a bit of a bulge. It's never been an issue for me and I've done some TERRIBLE things to that brass and it's still going strong.
You can always run 338 Edge cases into a 375 RUM die to size down the web and use a 338 RUM die to neck size and bump the shoulder if you don't want to get the Edge dies.
True. Good point. Using the 338 rum fl die should remedy that.Shoulder diameter of a 300 RUM is .525. The 338 RUM is .526.
I already built one that way. I did the math and found it gives me a .091" flat at the start of the chamber which hasn't caused issues chambering a round or resizing as of yet.let us if for sure it works it should
For What cartridge did you do that?we used a 33 nosler reamer and fired formed the brass 35 degree shoulder works well
what and how did you headspaceI already built one that way. I did the math and found it gives me a .091" flat at the start of the chamber which hasn't caused issues chambering a round or resizing as of yet.
It allowed me to use the 338 rum dies without messing with custom dies or buying expensive edge dies
It allowed me to use one reamer for 338 rum and edge chambers.
I was asking the question to see if anyone else used this method for edge or other chamberings. Can't imagine you couldn't make a 30-28 nosler with a 30 nosler reamer, using 30 nos dies .... haven't done a drawing on that one though
