Carbon Fiber Barrel with a Suppressor

Does anyone have any experience with a suppressor on a carbon fiber barrel? I am kicking around getting a Christensen Arms Ridgeline in a 6.5CM with a 20" barrel. With a 7" can, I'm only looking at a 27" barrel overall and with the contour of a carbon barrel, the can will match up with it well.

What's your question? The look nice on a carbon barrel and 20" is I think the ideal length to hunt with. I have mine on a 22" and it's nice but a little shorter would be ideal.

they work great. Have a 24" Proof prefit with a 7" can and no issues at all. Thought it'd be really bulky at that length but not bad so far.

I've just started researching it. I just read there might be problems with the back pressure created with a suppressor on a carbon barrel and that the harmonics may be thrown way off with a suppressor on a carbon barrel. Typical internet chatter that I need to sift through.

I think that setup might be the cat's *** for a deer rifle.

My 300WM Ridgeline shot 1/2 MOA groups reliably with Berger 215 factory ammo through a suppressor. You most likely won't have accuracy issues due to the can being on there

I have found that the suppressors have afforded me the ability to focus more on my fundamentals rather than worrying about muzzle blast and recoil. With that said I am not shooting large calibers. Mostly 6.5's and 6mm's

I've run a suppressor on 3 different guns with carbon barrels and seem to be fine. You will have a different point of impact. I've also noticed not as much recoil reduction as my muzzle breaks.

I put a suppressor on a 300 PRC carbon wrapped MPR and got 10" random holes that never grouped. Put the brake back on and got sub MOA groups. Put the can on a different gun and had no change in group size.

Short story for me is that a can will not work on the Cristensen MPR that I have.

All my CF barreled rifles (except 28Nos) run suppressors. All shoot as good as I can. From .1s to .3s or so. From 100 to 1500+ yards. From 6CM to .280AI. From 20" to 26". From Proof Sendero Light to Bartlein #13, to Proof Sendero to Bartlein M24.

I had a 24 inch proof sendero with a TB Ultra 7 on it. No issues and grouped .5moa at 300 with Hornaday factory 143s.

I'm building a 20 inch 7 saum in sendero lite and will have a can out front.

There is no pressure issue inherent to using a carbon barrel and a suppressor versus a steel barrel. Suppressors do create more back pressure due to the powder burning through the suppressor baffles. This is what also helps to create more FPS from the same load while using a suppressor. Pressure is not a barrel issue unless there is a build or QA issue with the barrel itself. It is in nearly every case a load issue when putting a suppressor on a barrel.

The initial issue back in the day with carbon was the POI shift with the lesser contours but for the most part that has been solved.

I use a .30 cal Omega with flat end cap on my new 6.5CM Ridgeline, 20" bbl. Seems to work fine. Not all the way through barrel break in, noted good accuracy at 200yds with factory Hornady 140gr BTHP. Not so much yet with 143gr Precision Hunter that I'd like it to digest. One interesting note, all the ammo I've fired through it exhibits ejector marks, and it's all factory Hornady. I need to call CA customer service about that issue.
