Still done understand
36xxx serial numberMine has 5 RJA on left side
Can you advise on mine?Sometimes the codes are more legible than others……I have dated quite a few M700's off of their info
Yup....B6316425! Plain as day ...did that help?
Why did you sell it!!!? Never sell a "shooter"!This just reminds me of my stupidity at times.
I had a Rem 700 BDL first year of manufacture in 17 Remington….it shot exceptionally well and was a dream to clean, stupidly I sold it and have regretted doing so everyday since.
My current 17 is a PITA to keep clean, I want my old rifle back.
Cheers.
During our youth, many of us made similar mistakes. This just reminds me of my stupidity at times.

No a good friend of mine just bought it from an older fellow who got it from his fatherand i was just trying to confirm what i told him was right that it was probably within the first 5 years or so of 700 productionWhy did you sell it!!!? Never sell a "shooter"!
The reason I sold it was due to the price of fox pelts plummeting here in Australia. Why did you sell it!!!? Never sell a "shooter"!
All the old ones do IMO!Very cool. I have a friend with a 1965 (a year older than me) 30'06 ADL that shoots as well or better than most production rifles built today
Meaning the letter B ?Thats likely a late 80's early 90's action. If it has the original barrel on it you can decipher the build date from the embossed marks near the recoil lug.
The early 700's did not have prefixes in the serial numbers.
This rifle appears to be completely original though im no expert this is why im asking guys who are. I feel like there hasn't been more than a hundred rounds through that action or barrel. The marks on the barel would indicate it to be a june of 1968 manufacturing and third hand info says it was passed from a grandfather to a grandson who is now in his 60s. I understand that this means nothing as far as the true age of the rifle is concernedMeaning the letter B ?
