Bullet Recommendations 270WSM

Ok, I am ready to send my action into Pacnor for re-barreling. I ordered some matrix vld165's and just got an email stating that they are out of stock at this time and they sent me a full refund. I haven't tried to find the berger's yet. I really wanted to send a dummy with the action but that is proving to be difficult. At this point I am thinking that I will make a dummy with the 150Ballistic and call it good.

Question is how will the 150's shoot out of a 1in8 twist???

The 150 NBTs as well as factory ammo with corelokts (used it for barrel break-in) shot just fine out of my .270 AI with 30" Lilja 1:8" 3-groove.

One of my buds thats a 1000 bench shooter made a 270wsm to 7 and is shooting the 195 Berger,they did same case and 300 years ago.

Are you just shooting mag length or are you going to have your 270 WSM throated?

In my 270 Wby (standard chamber, Benchmark 28", 1-9) I can seat the 170 Bergers about .15 (I need to check my notes) past my mag length before I hit the lands. With the 165 Matrix I think that I am only .05 off the lands at mag length.

150 SSTs have no issue at 3350fps with my 1-9 twist...

Bullets .com have a good price on the 170s...

One more thought…the 170s seem to run fine at different speeds…

At 3142fps on the left…the top round is my 165 Matrix spotter…

At 3004fps…on the right…

Shooting out of the back of my pick up at 5200'….I am trying...

If you set up ideal for the 150 BT it will likely work well with the 165 and 170 because it has so much bearing surface. My reamers throated for the 165 generally shoot the 150 BT awesome though it's like bringing a knife to a gun fight!

Sorry about my typo.They use the 270 wsm case as it has a bit more capacity than the 300wsm.The one guy did a light tit. 260 LR last season,took some game out to just about 1000,both these guys have shot world records in bench.I was talking to them at the outdoor expo last week.They like it long
