North of Ames, it's still "shotgun only" but they now allow straight walled rounds between 350 and 50 cal. I chose 350 legend because it's cheap to shoot and significantly more accurate than a slug.

Nice buck. Many career/life chapters ago, lived in Burlington for several years, then Ankeny outside Des Moines while Director of Engineering/Maintenance for Tones Spices. Great land, people.......only a small sapling and broken fence post between IA and North Pole. Hunted quail, pheasants in IA. Usually came back to MO to deer hunt. MO raised, just must use a rifle for deer.....

Update, doing my first homemade euro mount. Got all of the meat off, just a little bit of fat/cartilage to get out of the nooks and then it's ready for bleach
