Best scope for the money

good luck finding a razor 2 for a grand.

1000 bucks is a weird spot in the price point. If you go down a little or up a little there's a ton of options with good quality. Right at 1000, I've not been happy with a lot of the options available there, very few have tested well.

The above stated, here are some that I've tested extensively and been satisfied with.

Burris XTR II, OUTSTANDING optic for the money. There is no better deal or better fit than this for your stated purposes.
https://www.swfa.com/burris-4-20x50-xtr-ii-34mm-rifle-scope-11.html

SWFA SS, solid, reliable, inexpensive, durable. Best bargain going.
https://www.swfa.com/swfa-ss-3-15x42-tactical-rifle-scope-11.html

Leupold VX3 - Loopy's entry level to their higher end offerings. This is a hell of a good deal.
https://www.swfa.com/leupold-4-5-14x50-vx-3i-lrp-30mm-riflescope-9.html
https://www.swfa.com/leupold-4-5-14x50-vx-3i-lrp-30mm-riflescope-8.html

Sightron SIII FFP, high quality, less expensive 30mm main tube (rings cost 1/3 as much as 34mm rings).
https://www.swfa.com/sightron-6-24x50-siii-30mm-riflescope-17.html

If you're keeping your distances under about 800 yards then the SWFA 3-9x HD gives better turret cap design and better glass. If you can deal with 3-9x instead of the higher mag options (9x is good to longer than most people can shoot well) then you get a big glass upgrade without driving the price up.

Here's a link to a search that I've pared down to just things that should roughly fit your criteria and in brands/models that I know are routinely doing good stuff.

I will see your good luck at a grand and raise you 1500.00! Very excellent response you have written nice to see folks will take the time you have to really help... well done

For 1K I would say the Athlon Ares ETR. It can be had for $1199.99 at optics planted and you can find a 10% off code at times so that makes it $1079.91 its 80 bucks over your $1000 budget but I think it would be worth it. I have the Cronus BTR and really like it but it doesn't have locking turrets and the Ares ETR does. My next scope purchase will be the Ares ETR.
Call cameraland and get them for $less.. and it includes freight and for $ you can get the sun shield I dont want them to get in trouble because everyone has them at the same price. They give snipershide a discount

you need to check out the Athlon aeris BTR. 4.5- 29X50 OR 56 FFP. Just got one and it is awesome. It tracks perfect. Has a nice redical very fine. Has alot of adjustment up. Plus a lite redical if you like. Helps in low light settings. You can get it in MOA OR MIL. It has a great warranty as well. Hope this helps. God bless!
The btr is 6x24 and less than the etr which is the 4.5x29

I'm looking to get a new setup, my first thing looking for is my scope, Whats the best scope you can buy for $1000 , now if i have to wait for a used one to come around i will. i was looking at the Vortex Viper PST Gen2 5x25x50 , i will use it for some hunting and long range shooting, Thanks Guys
I like your choice and have one and use it a great deal. But Ballistics Guy has gone to great lengths to give you options that fit. Unfortunately in Canada....we get it up the hoop on all shooting related products ...mine cost 1800.00

Thanks for starting this post! I too am looking for at least a 25x,weight and money is a big concern since I'm going with a Ti action and carbon barrel. I need to be thrifty but I want to do the rifle justice!
Leupold VX-3i LRP's are some of the lightest weight FFP scopes you can buy...Been combing through options myself looking for a lightweight mountain rifle build

One question for you....what about Hawke...they are incredible folks to work with and Sidewinder is well under 1000.00....like 579.00 in the U S. for 8x32 x56. Excellent clarity for the price at 32 no shading

SportOptics.com You must call and ask for their best price. I swear by the Nightforce SHV 5-25x56 MOAR ILLUM C535...….They have the best prices anywhere!

Take a look at Hawke.. sidewinder SR PRO reticle on their website 6x24 and 8x32. Well within your budget....like 1/2. They have come a long way.

SWFA HD 5 - 20 x 50 ->$1.299. THE best buy I know of B/C it has HD glass at this price. Only one reticle (mil) and mil turrets. ($1,200. non-illuminated)
I own an SWFA 3 - 15 x 44 and it is, for the $600. sale price, an amazing scope with very good glass, as good as my spendy Bushnell ERS 3.5 - 21 x 50!

Otherwise look at TRACT (heavy) or Athlon.

I like my Leupolds and Vortexes, but I bought 2 Tract Tekoas for $200 off at their outlet site and was impressed. I'm seriously considering a Tract Toric for my next long range scope purchase

For the money you cant beat the conquest line from zeiss. Many options in reticle and power! I have nite force, vortex razor, leupold mk 4, 5 6 8, sig, kahle, dr optic and others. For hunting and some long range when i look at glass, weight, size all combined i have zeiss conquest 4.4x14 on 5 hunting rifles and 5.5 x20 on a 257 weatherby ,blaser r8. Many of the others, although gr8 scopes are just too big a d heavy for my taste on a hunting/carrying rifle. On a long range target rifle, different story.
