HI Glimmer, WE would all like a bit more information in order to formulate an OPINION. Are you talking about hitting steel at 1000 to 1200 yards; Hitting steel at 1500 to 1700 yards; Killing Mountain goats and sheep at 1000 yards. Killing Elk at 1000 yards. It would be helpful to know just what the Long-Range Rifle, with the Long-Range Load will be used for. As I am hoping to purchase a Long Tange Target Rifle for shooting at Steel Targets that could be 1500 yards or more away, I am doing two things. #1 I'm paying attention to what the experienced shooters on this blog say, and #2 Studying the ballistics of the 7mm PRC and the 30PRC. As this will be strictly a TARGET Rig for me, all I care about is the reputation of the rifle as a Precision tool. I am considering the new Sig Cross Magnum, with the easily removable barrel, and the Savage Precision Elite , which I think is offered in 30 PRC with a 30 inch Barrel. Now I have read much about both of those Rounds being excellent Hunting calibers, but in my case , they do not have to do double duty. The shooting school I have gone to twice has a 1 mile target . Its just a rock painted white, but I want to hit that rock, a couple of times, with the teacher as a witness. Although I am a huge fam of Leupold scopes, I am considering the Trijicon 10 mile. So I'm taking my time, so I can do it right the first time. Good Luck to you!!
