Best laser rangefinder around $500...

I need everyone's help here. Looking for real world experience hunting. I want to find a rangefinder that actually works on game out to 1000 yards. I had a Vortex ranger 1000 and a Sig 2000, both fell short and could not get ranges past 500 yards consistently... Saw the new Vortex Razor 4000 and wonder if it actually works? Also been considering the Leica CRF 2400-R Rangemaster. Any help is appreciated.

Don't recall Leupold 2800 price...but I get ranges every time at 2000 yards...if it further than that..rightly don't care.....its a long ways away.......get closer....

Environmental conditions have much control on laser performance. Almost as much as the target. So too does beam divergence and electronic interpretive tolerances. My experience is that one can expect to pay--averaging overall on soft absorbent targets (game)--one dollar per yard for the most consistent and equally accurate range signature. Barns, road signs, vehicles, rock formations, or any vegetation are not in the game category in the preceding statement. Aside from that I try to get several reads on game at any range, but absolutely all game targets beyond 600 yards. Here's and example of diffused, but bright sun at 1PM (target being midnight) and not ranging on the center mass. This is where one's familiarity with their RF pays off.

Leica CRF 2000 or Leupold RX 2800. Love the Leica. I currently have the Leupold and can't find anything to complain about it. The Leica's glass is a bit better.

Leica is definitely where I'm leaning right now... cant find anything bad about them besides the 2 year warranty.

I here ya, my son and I went in together on one. Lucky I have that as a possibility. We both use it and trust each other. With the ability to have 5 different loads it's no problem.
