Freight train is about right!I like the big bore slow freight train concept of the .410 in your 45-70, should roll 'em up nicely!
Why would you choose such a light bullet for subsonic?Fast as you can push it 125 SST sub sonic as above, Maker. Hundred fifty yards and in the SST is lethal.
The Sub-X is one of the worst examples of a subsonic expanding bullet, they are very inconsistent when they do expand. The Maker Rex is hands down the most consistent subsonic expanding bullet produced at this time, and it will expand down to 700 fps very reliably.I'm a firearms instructor for my LE agency and based on the FBI ballistics data that we have the Hornady SubX 190 is the only bullet they tested which reliably expands at subsonic velocities. A judge friend of mine has a ranch where he regularly shoot lots of pigs and he uses the Hornady Subx exclusively, it's very effective on everything he shoots with it be it deer or pigs, coyotes or bobcats. He does limit his range to under 150 with most shots taken at 130 or so. With that said I don't recall seeing Lehigh Defense on the FBI list. Their Maximum Expansion 198 should perform very well at around 1,000 fps. but they ain't inexpensive.
push the SST to 2500 FPS ! It works fine. I can vouch for it. For sub sonic maker is my choice for hunting bullet. I have a CVA Scout with a suppressor on it in BO. Rides on the seat of my side by side when tending feeder sites. Neat little gun with a really good trigger. Works well in tight blinds. Most of the shots are under75 yards. Why would you choose such a light bullet for subsonic?
If you have to limit speeds to 1050 -- a 195-220 grain subsonic specific bullet would definitely hold more energy-- and some of those heavies will reliably expand down to 600fps if you were so inclined
