It's a Hammer !!!Hinds weight about 260 lbs, I have only shot 18 deer and 30+ goat with the Berger's and all pretty quick kills, some have fist size exit holes. 940m is the farthest I've shot a deer so far.
Happy with the performance of 300gr elite hunters, time will tell as I've only had this rifle 12 months.
Considering that at 1k yards, that 300 grain bullet is still moving over 2000 fps and carries almost 3k ft lbs energy. It's definitely no surprise that it would penetrate a 3/8" steel plate.
That plate above was probably not hardened AR steel. Looks pretty soft but still it's 1/2" steel at almost 800 yards. At almost 3000 ft lbs at 1000 yards, the 300 Berger is a sledge hammer.I have a 3/8", 24"x24", AR500 plate. The closest I have shot my .338 Lapua was at 500 yards. I Have never had a pass through and or craters. I can say my plate looks to be ever so slightly con-caved when looking down at it from the top. Launching the 300 EOL at 2842 FPS.
