Looks like your having good results with the 9 twist, Is there anybody else using the 170's with a 9 twist?
If anyone is looking for 170's check bullets.com and Midway. I just picked up some from Bullets for a very reasonable price and free shipping . I'll be testing them in my Savage 110 270 wby 1:8 26". If I can find a good load I may use for my 2016 elk hunt. If anyone has some good loads to start with I'd be interested.
Thanks
Gene
I got out again today and shot some 170's through my 270 Sherman and played with some RL 33. I got more velocity with less pressure than the RL 26 load I was using. I'll bet you guys with the weatherbys will really benefit with a healthy charge of RL 33. The 3 shots over my magnetospeed had an ES of 4 FPS!!! 3024, 3022, 3026 fps.

Any idea what your max mag length is in your Savage? With my Mark V action I cannot even get close to the lands (at mag length) with the 170 Berger. I have the "standard" Weatherby freebore on my Benchmark barrel...
Have you shot any of the Matrix 165s from your Savage? So far H1000 is doing well for me, 7977 is showing promise...Retumbo sucked...
You guys finally got to me. I just received a 30" 1:7.5" twist 0.277" barrel from Brux. I have 300 170gr. Berger EOL and a few left over 180gr NWCP rebated boat tail bullets to get started with. As soon as I find a local gunsmith that I can trust with my .270/7mm Rem Mag reamer and new barrel, I will be able to play.
