It took me a few days, but I've finally read this entire post. That video of the KGB guy was pretty spot on, I've already shared it with a few friends.
Like some of the other guys on here, I fall into the millennial age. I'll be 33 next month and was born and raised in Northern California, and other than going to school in the Central Valley, I've lived up here my whole life.
My wife and I had our first kid about a year ago now. We're extremely lucky and blessed that she's a healthy growing little girl.
Even before she was born, I made the decision to realize that being a parent nowadays is even more important than ever. I think just being aware of what's happening in the world and hearing stores from my wife about what kids are experiencing at such a young age is extremely sad (she's a public school teacher). I'm no psychiatrist, but I can't help but think a lot of the problems our youth faces stem from an unhealthy home life. I've made decisions within my employment to allow more home time. I felt that the moment I decided to become a parent, I volunteered to put myself second.
When was the last time we as a country or any state passed legislation to regulate politians? There's no consequences for these idiots, other than getting voted out of office which isn't enough. They sponsor a bill that runs for several years and then gets overturned because it's unconstitutional? Where's the reprecussion for that!? They should be locked up.
Someone posted about required service in the military. I see both sides of it. I think the things you learn from being in the service would absolutely educate you on our county's history, heritage and would drive more patriotism as a nation. I get the flip side of mandatory service being a huge f*** up too because when s&&& hits the fan, you want men and women to have your back, not running to the barracks to climb in bed to FaceTime their friends back home because they were required to be there. So, how about required service for anyone who wishes to be a congressman or congresswomen at the state and federal levels? 99% of the men and women who have/are changing our country have spent zero blood, sweat or tears to help defend the very freedom they're taking advantage of.
I know it's hard to see the forrest through the trees, but reading forums likes this makes me appreciate guys and gals who still have good morals, love our country for what it truly stands for, and are willing to keep fighting to protect it. Can't quit and gotta keep voting. Support and educate our youth.
Last but not least, a more current event......
I don't know if anyone has been following what's going on in Statesville, SC and Gander RV. GRV is flying a huge American flag at their dealership and the city has filed a lawsuit to take it down due to the size and proximity to the highway. The CEO of Gander RV/Camping World, is Marcus Lemonis. Some may have seen the TV show The Profit. Same guy. Anyways, the city started fining the company $50/day back in October because he wouldnt take the flag down. It's up to $11,000 in fines(God bless him.) He said it could go to $500/day and he's still not taking the flag down. The city is moving forward with a lawsuit. Marcus is being summoned to court because of all this. When you guys get a chance, go to change.org and find the petition to help him out with this. Last I heard they had 150,000 signatures in support of keeping the flag up.
