Bear protection handguns?

I had a Savage 24F 12 gauge with the 223. With a factory composite stock. Back in 1991. Then I sold it. Really wish I had it back. I scoped it. I could nail a 5 gallon bucket dead center w/ sabot slugs. It was somewhat short and handy. I used it for deer a few years. Brush hunting with slugs. I won it in a raffle at work for 2 dollars. I see they sell for a real good dollar today. Mine was a all black stock.
A buddy had one that was 20 ga. and 22 mag.

Head shots ONLY !!!!
Otherwise , you will be "POOF" bird hunting .
Centerfire rifle , center-body shot on Grouse = "POOF".

I've always had good luck with the head shots, but a friend of mine always seemed to forget to "hold high"…..bullet about 2 inches below crosshairs. A .338 WM pushing 210 Nosler Partitions didn't leave anything for the pan!

Though, I failed to hold low enough with my 3" high @ 100 zero on a waterfowl at around 200 yards. That 270 grainer starting out @ 2900 was supposed to hit the water just beneath the bird……no bird for the pot that day! 🤬 memtb
