ballisitic differences between the 243 and 243 WSSM?

Well my plan A, B, C and the rest of the alaphabet has gone down the tube. I was hoping to build a LH Model 70 Featherweight in .243. Since all LH model 70's only come in WSSM and WSM calibers and the bolt face can't be changed it looks as though I'm going to have to settle for a LH Model 70 FW in 243 WSSM.

Does anyone know what the ballistic differences are between these two calibers? I'm planning on reloading all my ammo and like my sons 243's I want to stay with the 95 gr bullet for deer and hogs.

Will the WSSM buy me that much more velocity over the standard .243?

I just looked at Hodgdon's and nosler's websites and it looks that the wssm has about a 100-150fps lead on the 243, sometimes less.

however, the wssm is much harder to find ammo for in a pinch and you are limited to using winchester brass - which I have always liked, but it isn't as good as Lapua.

Stuck on a winchester?? ever considered a tikka?

If I were you I'd wait for a reply from someone much more knowledgeable than me but in the meantime....

If I recall from when I looked into the various 6mm options, the 243 WSSM is along the lines of upgrading a 243 to 243 AI. In other words 100-150 fps increase in velocity over a 243.

Personally, in investigating the various 6mm options I decided on the 243 AI. The principle factors against the WSSM were brass and reported feeding issues. But if you are stuck with that bolt face, not much you can do. I don't think it's a bad round, it just doesn't offer anything special over what is already out there.
