Are calibers above 308 and below 375 destined to wither away?

Below is what I was getting with mine.

I need to try Peterson's, too.
You have a lot shorter neck and less body taper with your design I think?
I've found Peterson brass to be **** near indestructible!
It can take take an absurd amount of pressure and still keep the primers tight. It also never stretched! EVER!
The only issue I have ever found with it is the necks are "lumpy ".
So I turn mine to 14 thou after the first fireform and they are golden for ever
I've got 1 batch I am on 14x fired!!!
Full, high pressure, over pressure testing, searching for the best solution loads!
Very good brass

That's good to know, thanks!

I haven't killed any big game animals past 1,000 yards. In the past 20 years my primary big game has been culling Aoudad sheep in west Texas for a rancher who wants Desert bighorn instead. For that work out to 600 yards a 6.5 140 Berger puts them down quickly. Aoudad are bigger and tougher than deer.

When I was younger it was the 270 vs 30-06 for elk. Both have killed more elk than any 338. The 270 proponent, I can't recall his name right now, said 130 grain killed as well as 150. Now we have those thinking the 223 with 75 gn TMK is big game medicine. I don't agree with that at all but it works often enough to make some believers. Recently a thread here complained that the 140 Berger I use causes too much internal damage. A chest shot caused rupture of the diaphragm and guts making a total mess of the insides. I can't begin to count the times that someone here has said that the 308 215 Berger is devastating on elk at long range.

Given all that why is a 245 Berger launched at 3000 plus not entirely adequate long range elk medicine? Does a 275-300 grain in 338 add much safety margin?
Awesome. I am in the process of lining up an Aoudad hunt myself. Its true the small bores work to good effect but In this post you point out that they often produce blood shot game and or explosive results on organs.

The medium bores are known to anchor game quickly and humanely with minimal meat loss/blood shot meat.

Judging by the deer I see taken by friends and family and those being checked in, the majority of people take the broadside, behind the leg "meat saver shot" and I used to as well but after using and seeing the shoulder shot a few times I no longer use it. I have helped friends and neighbors unsuccessfully track deer and it's frustrating and a terrible feeling/experience. They often used smaller caliber cartridges and all were "in the boiler room".

The flexibility in shot placement and the ability to drop game in their tracks has made me a huge fan of the medium bores. What my 358 & 338's give me cannot be duplicated by the 30 and under crowd.

More hunters would use the 358 if they understood its strengths and shot placement. Instead of shooting game through the ribs get some resistance and watch the level of effectiveness "obsolescence" dishes out.
