I would orient a couple with your chamber and see where the rough place is. You should almost be able to feel it with your finger if it is at the entrance. Also, pay attention to whether it happens on chambering or ejection.

Take a 20 gauge shotgun brush and drill and run that in there for a while and see if it cleans it outs....still might have to ha e it polished to a nice finish but it would be cheaper than a gunsmith and it's easy to do.....maybe after the brush use some JB boretaste with a fiber brush and clean it up.... I would bet it would remove the problem spots....

Dam I guess I got lucky with mine, hate hearing all the horror stories though, I have the 26 nosler too but I guess I'll rebarrel with proof if or when the time comes

I'd return it to Cabela's, unless you've shot the rifle. Even if you've shot it I'd try. Should be able to return a defective rifle.
That's an awfully expensive rifle to end up with a defective chamber.
If you can return it, buy a different brand.

Cabela's is usually pretty good about that.

It's a 26 Nosler. Not many choices out there. I was planning on reloading for it and have some Nosler brass, but I haven't set up the dies yet. Was wanting to shoot one box of factory ammo for my break in.

Send it back, have them put a on 1:8 twist .28 Nosler barrel on it. You'll be much happier with a rifle that gets more than 500-600 rounds of barrel life... Those carbon fiber barrels are expensive.

Update, took the rifle to my local gunsmith today. He checked the ejectors and they were fine. Then, with the ejectors and firing pin removed from the bolt (a gutless bolt) he inserted a 26 Nosler SAAMI GO/NO GO gauge and it closed perfectly. Then he inserted 4 factory shells (all Nosler ammo) from 4 different boxes. They all were hard to close. We decided to ship it back to CA with a note explaining that the chamber tolerances, while SAAMI, are way too tight for any factory ammo.

Did you check the ammo to see if they were in spec... If the chamber is within spec(saami) and the ammo is tight then the ammo must be out of spec.

To answer your first question to me. YES, especially after your last post. If a go gauge closes and a no go does not the chamber is just as it should be. You did not say if the smith looked at the chamber with a scope. This is the first thing I would have expected him to do. I would have also removed the ejectors and left the extractor and chambered a round and gently pulled the cartridge out of the chamber to inspect. I am not going to say with certainty this is not from CAs doing but it would be very difficult to get the marks in the chamber running parallel to the bore. The only way I could see it happening is if they stopped the lathe with the reamer in the chamber and then removed it. I am not a gunsmith but I am very mechanically inclined and have operated lathes. I am very confused how you think CA is at fault knowing it is in SAAMI spec when the blame seems to be the ammo.

Good advise above. You don't need to know exactly what is wrong with it. Analysis could take forever. Issue is you have a new expensive rifle that's not chambering worth a crap. Let Cabela's deal with it.
I would try to return to Cabelas before sending to CR. Even after the "smith" has looked at it. Just don't tell them the "smith" too the bolt apart....
I would not wait for 6 weeks (could even be longer). Starting to sound like you don't need it for this season anyway?

Not necessarily, I had a reamer that was made .003 undersized at the .200 line that could be CA's problem. An out of spec reamer will cut out of spec chambers.

Agreed, but the op says the chamber is within saami specs. At least this is how I read his last post.
