Absolute Hammer load data

Added some new powders to the testing of previous.....same gun/barrel, etc:

Hybrid 100V
51.0=2838
52.0=2888
53.0=2937
54.0=2987
55.0=3011

Staball 6.5
53.0=2802
53.5=2821
54.0=2831
54.5=2858
55.0=2871
55.5=2916
56.0=no data
56.5=2970
57.0=2991 pressure/sticky bolt

also, I backed down to 65.0 gn with RL26 after previous data to verify groups and decided that 64.0 gn would be better. 65.0 gn being shot at 72 degrees environment vs 50 degrees produced pressure not previously experienced. So, next outing will be with 64.0 gn of RL26 being the "middle of the road". I will load up and down the 64.0 gn in .3 gn differences to determine best load for accuracy. In this particular rifle(6.5 Sherman Max/123 AH), somewhere around 64.0 gn of RL 26 will be the powder that safely produces the highest velocity. Accuracy has been good on virtually all loads tested but we all want "one hole" at a hundred yards, no? THEN, I will test out to 700 yards to make sure load stays consistent at that distance. Thanks to all other posters for sharing their info!
More testing today that proved Mr Bean correct!

I stopped at 54 w/ N540 only because that is what I had loaded, next outing I will add some larger charge weights. Great news but kind of a mixed bag......just for comparison I loaded some Sierra 120 gn spitzers with my previous fastest load of 64-65 gns of RL26 and that got me 3341 fps. Conclusion? My 6.5 Sherman Max is doing its thing but the Absolute Hammers?

I feel you buddy. I've been going through the same frustrations trying to find the magic powder for my 300 WSM and the 162 Absolute. I've tabled the project for the moment and moved on to the 123 Absolute in my 6.5 Creed. Going to see how 8208 and BLC2 pan out.

Load a 57.4gn load and let her eat

I shot a handful of 7mm RM yesterday with the 140AHs. I need a portable setup so I can load up at the range!
7mm RM
Factory rem 700
24", 1:9.25"
Norma 2x, cci-250
IMR-4955, 3.3" coal
Magnetospeed

66.0gr —3,055
67.0gr — error
68.0gr — 3,173
69.0gr — 3,237
70.0gr — 3,320
Brass looked great, primers looked ok, some cratering at 69 and 70. Still room to run. Recoil increased noticeably at 69 gr.

Watch your pressure. If you go up, do it in 1/2 gr increments. You're probably getting close!

Yeah the way these seem to be somewhat ok then a blown primer I'm probably close. No ejector marks or swipes yet. And with the Norma brass I usually see those when things get hot. I think I'd be happy at 3300, seems like a good flat shooting deer load

Can someone give some starting points for a lowly old .308?

I currently shoot 175 grain Berger VLD Hunting over 50.8 grains of RL17 with GM215m primers. COAL mag limited at 2.870". With this load I average 2800fps.
Rifle is a bone stock Rem 700 5R Milspec 20" 1-11.25" and it's a 1/2 MOA gun with this load.
I'm looking to work up something with the 151 or 162 AH. Need a tougher Bullet on Auodad and would enjoy a velocity bump if possible.
These are the powders and primers I have on hand:
