the next is my wife's 270 wsm

unfortunately I have not be able to do much with the 338 ultra max but my first loads with the 300gr begers have been promising with an average of 3050 fps I hope the accuracy comes with the fps as the 270 wsm go's it shoots lights out in fact I shot my spring bear with it at 862yrds with a 175gr matrix the only bad part is I have a hard time sneaking it out of the house before the wife sees me

So what's the difference between the 338 AX (allen express) and the Ultra Max??

The AX is kinda like an ackley improved 338 Lapua, but I am unfamiliar with the UMax.

I don't know all the specs all I know is that it is based off the rum case with the shoulder pushed forward in a fire formed case I can get 99gr behind a 300gr berger with no pressure sings. The other resin I went with it is because I could use a standard mag bolt face and it was cheaper to reload then the ax

The 175 matrix did an outstanding job on the bear at 862 the 175 hit him hard and went strait throw his shoulder and out the other side behind the off shoulder and left a golf ball size hole the bear dropped and didn't move I can't what for my wife to shot her elk this year with them last year she shot two bulls with the 169.5 wildcats one in new mexico and the other heir in montana they worked great

WOW! Your .338 Allen is *sick*!!! What a great long-range platform - anywhere/anything specific you're planning on hunting?

So the .338 Allen Ultra Mag is a .338 RUM-Allen Improved. Nice guns. I love the stocks. Any issues with cheek weld and proper eye alignment, scope wise, with those stocks?

no problems on the 270 wsm bit I don't know on the 338 yet I haven't put a scope on it yet still deciding on what one to put on and the 338 allen ultra max is based on the 375 rum

fmajor I'm planing on using it on a new mexico elk hunt I couldn't go on last year and the outfitter let me change it to this year

Ha! When i 1st read your reply, i *thought* it was a NM antelope hunt - that would've been 'interesting'..... but then the "elk" part registered on my bug-sized grey-matter and it suddenly became clear.

I hope your load work-ups go smooth, fast and accurate!
